Location description from owner

The Canary Islands region

Lanzarote is the easternmost of the Canary Islands, located just 125 kilometres west from Africa's coastline. It covers almost 850 square kilometres and has about 130,000 inhabitants, nearly half of which in the capital Arrecife.

* Timanfaya National Park - a volcanic landscape that has barely changed since the 1730's eruptions. It covers about a quarter of the island's surface and is popular with tourist doing camel rides for example.
* Jameos del Agua
* Cueva de los Verdes
* Mirador del Rio - a lookout located at the northermost tip of the island, with great views over La Graciosa, Lanzarote's smaller sister island
* Jardín de Cactus
* Fundación César Manrique
* Casa Monumento al Campesino ("House of Monument to the Peasant")
* Whales and Dolphins Museum
* Agricola Museum
* Beaches, like Playa de Papagayo

Lanzarote has one of the most perfect climates. Summers last from May to early October when temperatures are generally between 25 and 30 °C during the day and a pleasant 20 on average at night. Winters are a little wetter but still nice with temperatures from November to April mostly between 20 and 25 °C and nights of around 15 °C. The southern parts of the island are slightly warmer than the northern parts, which also see a little more rain.
Best travel period to Lanzarote: For a beach holiday or to simply relax it is best to visit during summer or autumn. But even in winter you can go for a swim. Temperatures are quite mild. Hikers and other active travellers always have high season. The islands are especially beautiful when they’re greening in spring.

Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca, meaning "White Beach" is the southernmost town of the Spanish island of Lanzarote. It is the newest, yet fastest growing resort on the Island. It is 37 km far from the airport, it has its own school, notary, the bustling Rubicon Marina (with its twice-weekly market),church, harbour with ferries to Fuerteventura.
The coastline around Playa Blanca is essentially one large 9 kilometre wide bay which is then broken up into three smaller, but still large, bays. This basic geography means that the beaches in and around Playa Blanca are sheltered and ideal for swimming and sunbathing.
One of the attractions of Playa Blanca to visitors, is the proximity of the town centre to the promenade. Playa Blanca has all the normal tourist shops that you would expect in the centre and along the central part of the beach promenade, although not as many as the other major resorts. Moreover, the ability to walk along the promenade and stray into shops, bars and restaurants without the need to cross any road, gives Playa Blanca a relaxed atmosphere. Calle Limones is the main pedestrianised street running from the Harbour area to the centre of the town adjacent to the promenade. It has a range of shops including upmarket designer clotheswear, perfume shops, bargain clothesware and supermarkets. Shops are open until late into the evening.
Nuestra Senora del Carmen is a beautiful Church located in the centre of Playa Blanca. Holy Eucharist is celebrated every Sunday at 5:30 PM for 1 hour.

Marina Rubicon is a new and seriously stylish Marina, with a wide range of interesting shops, bars and restaurants. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings, there is also a busy street market.
For many, the enjoyment of Marina Rubicon is to wander around, admiring the wonderful boats that line the pontoons, then enjoy a drink at one of the number of bar/restaurants. The Marina also offers a great choice of quality restaurants.

Castillo de las Coloradas stands on the headland of Punta del Aquila. This watchtower was built between 1741 and 1744. It offered good protection through its robust circular construction and through its drawbridge. Its bell was sounded to warn that pirates were approaching the coast.

Playa Dorada is literally translated as The Golden Beach and this is certainly an accurate description with its warm honey coloured sand. The sea around Playa Dorada is generally very calm and it is a popular spot with residents who take a morning swim here. It is a 10 minute walk from the centre of Playa Blanca and is well served by shops and cafes.
Perhaps the most well known of all the beaches around Playa Blanca is Papagayo. In reality this is a collection of smaller beaches that are separated by high cliffs, forming a number of sheltered bays. This area has been protected and is now a national park which can only be accessed by a rather bumpy dirt road.

Playa Blanca is overlooked by the dormant volcano, Montana Roja. The walk up to and around the rim of the mountain is not too difficult and the views over Playa Blanca, to the North of the island and across to Fuerteventura are spectacular.
To the north of Playa Blanca you find a stunning and protected area named Los Ajaches (declared "Natural space" of the Canaries on June 19th 1987). It is a triangular area of some 3,000 hectares bounded by: the mountain village of Femes, the small coastal fishing village of Playa Quemada and the Papagayo beaches.
The volcanic landscape of Los Ajaches has an impressive beauty. It includes ares of scientific interest with the presence of fossils of the Pliocene period.

- EL GOLFO: is a half-submerged cone of a volcano, which over time has been eroded by the sea, leaving behind only the striated wall of the crater. At the foot of the crater wall is Lago Verde, a half-moon-shaped lagoon of a striking green colour, for which mainly account volcanic minerals and micro-organisms that are believed to be unique in this lake.
This landscape is so wild and raw, filmmakers thought it was the ideal backdrop for Raquel Welch to appear in, wearing her animal skin bikini in the classic movie One Million Years B.C.
El Golfo’s fish restaurants are amongst the best in the Canaries, and once tasted, it’s not hard to see why (with the beautiful setting overlooking the sea).

-SALINAS DE JANUBIO (Salt Works): About 8 km north of Playa Blanca is the Laguna de Janubio, a large, emerald green saltwater lagoon,location of the Salinas de Janubio, the only still operating commercial salt works on the island. At its high Salinas produced around 10,000 tons of sea salt per year, with the water originally being pumped into the lagoon by wind power, which has been replaced by electrically driven pumps.

-TIMANFAYA NATIONAL PARK: In 1993, UNESCO designated the Biosphere reserve.
Access to the park by the public is strictly regulated to protect the delicate flora and fauna. There are one or two footpaths, and a popular short route where one can visit by camel. There is a public car park from which one can tour the volcanic landscape by coach using a road that is otherwise closed to the public.
The volcanic activity continues as the surface temperature in the core ranges from 100 to 600 °C at the depth of 13 metres (43 ft), which is demonstrated by pouring water into the ground, resulting in a geyser of steam which is an attraction for tourists.

“Lovely villa, lovely weather”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2017

I don't know why someone on here left a bad review and left after 1 hour. I would have gladly taken their week's holiday here. The villa is spotlessly clean, has a great private pool and the owner was really fast in responding to emails & whatsapp messages before and during our stay. The few questions and requests we had (more bedding & towels, us of the bike etc.) were dealt with quickly and efficiently. Wifi was great. No a/c in the villa which may be a problem during the summer but lots of doors, windows and fans. You will definitely need a car to get about. I did have a problem finding the villa as my satnav didn't work and the 2 lots of directions I had on paper didn't really 'work' for me as most of the roads don't have roadnames clearly displayed (if at all). Easiest and most straightforward directions are as follows: From the airport take the LZ-2 towards Playa Blanca. Take it all the way into Playa Blanca until you hit the sea and the road bends to the left, then take the coast road keeping the sea parallel to your right. Eventually you will come to a mini roundabout with a wall in front of you and to the right with the words ‘San Marcial Del Rubicon’ printed on it. Turn left at this roundabout into what looks like a large car park and follow the signs to ‘Lanzarote Green Villas’ until you hit a T junction. This will be Calle Cyca and the Villa is on the left corner (number 12). We stayed in Feb and the weather was hot and sunny all week (1 cloudy day). We will definitely be back !!

Driving into the resort you are faced with grey skeletal buildings Majority of villas in the area are either not complete, abandoned, unkept and overgrown Lone security guard more likely there to discourage squatters rather than for holiday makers protection Peace and quiet equals desolate and abandoned Stayed for one hour and left! One small positive. Owner was very helpful during booking process

“fantastic villa”

Reviewed 9 Jun 2015

What a wonderful villa,we stayed here the end of May with husband,3 sons eldest sons girlfriend and grandson.The villa itself is just how it is the photos ,it was lovely and clean and kitchen was well equipped.The pool was used daily but i would recommend heating on in May it was a bit chilly for grandson.The conservatory was great to sit and have lunch.The surrounding villas were largely empty which for us was a bonus it was quiet and private.We hired a car but didn't use it much,this holiday was for relaxing by the pool and walking to the beach which isn't very far away.A five minute walk is the super market with every thing you need there.Further away you will find some great restaurants (Larnis) Lovely food but a bit on the expensive side.To sum it all up we would go back tomorrow!

“Excellent holiday”

Reviewed 4 May 2015

Sad to be back from an excellent holiday, from the first contact with Ricardo it was straight forward and speedy replys. The villa was to a high standard and clean and spacious enough for 4 adults and 2 teenagers. The area was very quiet and the security guards on site made you feel very safe. Once you get to know your way around which doesn't take long there are supermarkets and restaurants close by. The whole island is very clean and the scenery is breathtaking. We went on quite a few trips and would recommend the timanfaya nation park, the teguise market and rancho Texas lanzarote park they were excellent. The food was also great and the people are very helpful and friendly. We walked nearly everyday to the rubicon marina which has a variety of restaurants, local shops and market. Would recommend visiting lanzarote it is such a beautiful island, we even saw a stingray in the marina and my teenage kids thought it was amazing, revisiting next year...can't wait.

“Loved it.”

Stay at this Villa with 5 Adults and 3 kids. Ricardo was very accommodating and even put in an extra bed when my brother and his son decided to join us last minute. He was quick to reply to any emails and provided us with lots of info on the villa and the town Playa Blanca. The Villa was very clean and well equipped with a washing machine and all mod cons. The pool was lovely and the kids were in it all day long. It cooled us down when the day was at its warmest. The villa is in a very quiet area and is surrounded by other villas that were empty so it was very peaceful and relaxing for my parents. By the time we arrived it was dark so the villa was tricky to find. The marina Rubicon (about 10 mins away) was very nice with loads of restaurants and bars and shops. There is a market on a Thursday that had all sorts of lovely gifts and products. I recommend that you hire a car as its 40 mins form the airport and 10 minutes from the main strip/town. We hired 2 and drove around all week and only used around €20 worth of diesel where a taxi itself would of cost €45 from the airport. We visited the volcano and Rancho Texas which were both great fun for the kids. The latter is a water park and an animal park so hours of fun!!! I would highly recommend staying at Cassa Vitturi. We will definitely be returning in the future.

“A peaceful, relaxing stay”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2014

We booked this villa based on previous reviews which we found to be accurate. Good communication, Ricardo was always prompt to reply with information. The villa was a bit tricky to find but we rung Mr Manolo who met us and took us straight to villa. We found it was useful to have a contact in the resort and he was very helpful. The villa was equipped with all you need and was very clean and comfortable, it looks exactly as the photos show. Our children loved the pool we did pay the extra for pool heating which I think you would need at time of our trip. It did have TV but the only English Channel is BBC world news, we didn't find this a problem as we are happy not to watch TV on holiday!! It does have free wifi which was very useful. I would recommend hiring a car, the cost of the car hire is very reasonable and cheaper than taxi transfers from airport which is about 35 mins away. The villa is about 5 min drive to Marina Rubicon which we were very impressed with. The overall area was very quiet as most of the surrounding villas are all empty. We all had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

“Fantastic villa”

Reviewed 21 Mar 2014

Great villa. Very modern and new. All amenities were fantastic. Location was great although a little tricky to find - very close to the beach and many shops. Only issues were that the rooms had no curtains, just nets, but not a problem for us. Pool very nice as was the conservatory for breakfast in the mornings. Lots of restaurants in close proximity. Would recommend car hire though to get around. Overall very pleased with the choice and would stay again

“The accommodation was superb and finished to a high standard”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2013

I stayed in this villa in December 2012 with my husband, 2 young children and my parents. The accommodation was superb and finished to a high standard, the only 2 issues I had were 1. there was no gate on the side of the property, which meant that the back patio/pool area were not secure (which was not ideal with having 2 young children) and 2. the pool could not be heated, the pool was so cold that we could not use it, which was a big disappointment. Location wise the property was quite far out from the town which was nice as it was quiet and peaceful at night time, we had hired a car from the airport and we definitely needed it for getting around as it would have been to far too walk to the beach and the main town.

Owner's reply: We are glad to read that you and your family enjoyed the stay at Casa Vitturi. While we appreciate and respect your review, I have to point out two things: 1) the property is secured by an enclosure wall and lockable gates. 2) Pool is not heated as indicated on the ad's villa description and in our answer to your booking enquiry. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you, and we inform you that, about the heated pool, we are now considering the possibility to give this service in the future and as soon as it will be available we'll publish it on our ad. Thank you.
