“If you love and appreciate Italian art and architecture then this is the place to be”
A fabulous opportunity to step back in time into Italian history. What an amazing place owned by a beautiful lady dedicated to restore her home to show and share the wonders hidden over many years. If you love and appreciate Italian art this is the place to be. Very good location for getting to many of Italy's towns and cities with excellent public transport. Donatella helped us with all the information we needed as well as picking us up from the airport and providing some welcomed goodies. Definitely a place we will return to. One tip take some mosquito repellant!
Owner's reply: Dear Phil and Lorraine, thank you very much for your review. I am sorry to read that you have been troubled by mosquitos. All our apartments are provided with mosquitos nets at the windows and besides there is a spray mosquitos repellant in the bathrooms: indeed there was one also in your apartment on the shelf near the bathroom door, but alas I forgot to tell you; I apologise for that. I will be happy to welcome you again at Villa Di Lupo Parra and next time I will put the repellant in a more visible place, I promise.
“A unique place to stay - truly Italian!”
My husband & I stayed here for our honeymoon in September. It is a villa full of character; from the sweeping staircase to the amazing frescos on the walls & ceilings. Quiet & peaceful location and yet only 6 mins by train to Pisa. We had a wonderful holiday and look forward to returning in the future.
“The perfect base for discovering Tuscany”
We cannot express enough our gratitude to our hosts for all of the help that they provided us with from the moment we arrived, especially with booking us, (non Italian speaking), into the local restaurant, (non English speaking) on the first night. The food there is excellent. The villa is a great experience in itself due to the history of the building and the frescoes that adorn the walls and ceilings. Our apartments were more than we'd hoped for and are a fully contained unit with everything you'll need to go self catering. In the evenings, a glass of locally produced Chianti in the gardens is the perfect way to end a day of exploring. Our intention for this trip was to visit as many areas as we could in our 6 night stay and, by using the train system, we managed to see Lucca, Viareggio, Siena, Florence and Pisa. The local train station is a 15 to 20 minute casual stroll from the villa and it only takes 6 minutes to reach Pisa or 70 minutes to reach Florence. We highly recommend this location for your trip.
“A good base for travelling round Tuscany”
The owners are very welcoming, providing pick up from the airport and return which was very much appreciated also the trips to the supermarket to stock up on supplies. A welcome pack which was again appreciated. It is a good base for travelling around Tuscany either by train, bus or car, plenty of information provided on the area with bus and train timetables. The accommodation is well presented and the owners have worked hard to revive the villa bringing it back to life from its unloved state. Lovely gardens in which to sit and relax, eat a meal, read a book or play table tennis. Reasonably priced self catering accommodation making it affordable to various groups of people. Initially on arrival one may think you are a bit off the beaten track but you will be suprised and find the train and bus services are frequent and reasonably priced making it a good base for getting to quite a few places in a short space of time. I would thoroughly recommend this villa for the reasons set out above and already have to a number of friends and aquaintances.
“Beautiful Surroundings, Lovely People.”
We booked a week at this fantastic period property at very short notice. The hosts could not be friendlier, picking us up at the station, providing basic food and treating us more like friends than guests. We had a remarkably peaceful time in their beautiful home, with a tall vaulted entrance, original frescos and an absolute gem of a walled garden. Looking forward to going again and would thoroughly recommend staying in this wonderful location.
“An unsual and historic holiday home for art lovers”
My partner and I stayed at this Villa in September 2010. We had an inkling that it might be an interesting place to stay but we never even began to imagine how special it turned out to be. It is a large, historic building containing magnificent 18th and 19th century frescos of outstanding beauty. It was also the home of a truly scandalous but remarkable lady who played a pivotal part in Tuscan history. The owners, Donatella and Antonio are wonderfully hospitable hosts and take genuine delight in sharing their home with their guests. It also has excellent public transport connections to centres of Pisa and Florence. I was so impressed by our stay there - and the efforts that Donatella and Antonio have made to restore and rescue the building and it's treasures, I decided to make a film about it. You can see the results on YouTube if you search for 'Villa Di Lupo Parra'. If you are an art lover looking for historic and atmospheric lodgings in the Pisa area, this is a place that we heartily recommend
