The apartment named " Three centuries of art" is on the first floor of the villa; you will get there through the magnificent main stairs, which feature amazing frescoes on the walls and the ceiling. The rooms are bright, comfortable, smartly furnished with precious antiques, and with a beautiful view. The apartment is composed of a large living room, a romantic double bedroom, a trendy kitchen and a chic bathroom. Two additional single beds can be provided in the living room. Sky channels are available. This apartment is the most peculiar in the house as it is an extraordinary witness of the evolution of taste in fine arts over the centuries. During a recent restoration we have found on the walls of the living room, under some layers of common paint, three different frescoes one over the other, which date respectively from 18th, 19th and 20th century, and we have kept all of them in view, so you can see how the room has changed its look over the time. The frescoes featured in the bedroom depict the symbols of arts (music, architecture, sculpture and painting). The apartment is provided with a piano and its atmosphere is perfect to make art lovers feel at home and enjoy their stay here.

Location description from owner

The Tuscany region

Tuscany is the heart of Italian art. Thousands of years of history and culture are witnessed by the most extraordinary monuments you can find in Italy: churches, museums, castles, palaces, ancient towns and villages. But Tuscany is also renowned for its good climate and beautiful landscapes: green hills, blue sea, and sunshine. Why don't try also the thermal spa in Tuscany, which are famous all over the world? As for food, excellent olive oil and superb wines, as well as plenty of tempting traditional dishes with local produce.

Pisa

Pisa is wellknown for its leaning tower and the amazing Piazza dei Miracoli, which don't need any further description. But there are many other monuments and places which are well worth seeing while walking through the city centre, after having a drink in a stylish café or tasting a real Italian homemade ice cream. Not far from Pisa visit Calci, a nice old town in the country with its beautiful Certosa, S. Miniato (a medieval town with landscapes on Arno valley and countryside), S. Piero a Grado (basilica). In June a festival is held in Pisa, called "Giugno Pisano" with music, traditonal games, exhibitions. On June 16th at night "Luminaria di S. Ranieri": thousands of candles adorn all the buildings along the river Arno and reflect their shapes on the water; unforgettable! Classical music festival "Anima Mundi" in the monumental cathedral (September-October).Good nigthlife on the coast, particularly in Summer: discos, pubs, live music, jazz concerts.Walk on the hills around Pisa among picturesque villages with a superb view over the country up to the sea and the isles. Cycle lane along the river Arno, many tennis courts and swimming pools available.Beach, boat rent, surfing and sailing in Tirrenia.Good fish restaurants in Marina di Pisa. Lots of cosy restaurants also in the city centre and in the countryside, where it is not easy to choose between traditional or innovative offerings! Wide range of high quality red and white wines. Don't miss the famous white truffles in S. Miniato, only 30 minutes driving from the villa. In November an important food festival is held there, which features plenty of delicious dishes with truffles as well as the excellent red wines of the area.Traditional "sagre" everywhere in the countryside in Summer, which are outdoors gastronomic festivals, each offering food and wine inspired by a particular theme or ingredient, depending on the typical produce of the place. Antique market on the second Suturday and Sunday of each month in Pisa; on the third in Lucca.Beauty treatments at the famous thermal spas S. Giuliano and Casciana.

“Beautiful Villa and Excellent hosts!”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2015

I would like to recommend Villa Parra and in particular at the "three centuries of art" apartment as my family and I had a very pleasant stay there. Both Donatella and her husband were very kind and helpful and assisted us with any request or need we had and made us feel very welcome. The apartment, which has beautiful view of the mountains around, was very comfortable, very clean and well equipped to the detail. We very much appreciated the books and all the information about the area that they provided and the piano in the living room which my children loved to play. Villa Parra in Navacchio by Pisa airport, is an ideal rural location which is very close to the main Tuscan cities of Pisa and Florence as well as the seaside villages of Tirrenia and Viareggio. We enjoyed our stay so much that we would love to return to Villa Parra were we really felt at home.

“History at its best.”

Reviewed 12 Oct 2015

It is a while since my last review on the basis that if you can't say something nice say nothing at all. Finally though I have found something to shout about. Whilst I am not suggesting this facility suits all, if you are looking to enjoy the treasures of Northern Italy with its history and wonderful views then why not stay in your own historical establishment while you do it. The process of booking the apartment is a delight as Donatella makes you feel like you are a member of her family with nothing too much trouble. I asked for help in booking a concert locally during our stay and received back not only availability but also when, where and how to get the tickets. (when we arrived we found out that Donatella was attending the same concert so she collected our tickets for us and also accompanied us to the concert driving us both there and back. The apartment is situated close to the main line station giving you access to Florence, Siena and Pisa to name but a few, you are picked up from the airport by Donatella or her husband (free of charge) so a hire car is not strictly necessary and if you want to explore there are bikes available as part of the package, a word of warning if like me you are not a regular bike rider the saddle on the mountain bike can and in my case did cause ongoing pain/damage, although I will add that I did grin and bear it on 3 separate occasions. I have been home now for a few weeks and finally I am starting to sit down with out making a strange face. I mentioned earlier that this apartment might not suit all because there is no pool or facilities for children apart from the lovely gardens but the experience of touching history in this manner can only be viewed as memorable. The story of the restoration puts a little in doubt the sanity of the owners but you end up in awe of them as you realise the enormity of the task they have taken on. What has been achieved is nothing short of magical but the journey is still a long way from completion. We are helping a little by returning in November to once again be consumed by history, but this time I am taking with me padded cycling shorts.

“Our Tuscan home from home”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2012

My family and I have just come back form holiday form this truly beautiful place. We have two daughters, 6 and 13 and they loved every minute of their stay. It was a truly unique experience. Donatella and her husband Antonio were very welcoming and made us feel at home and they could not have been more helpful. I can honestly say we did not want to leave so soon and we were there for 7 days. We just felt so relaxed and the location is perfect if you want to visit, Florence, Pisa, Lucca. The train and bus service is only 15 to 20 minute walk and is very reasonable. Also it's local village Navnaahio is also only a 15 minute walk if you need any groceries or just want to stay close and eat out. Of course there is the villa itself and the outside does nothing to convey what is inside. When you walk into it's grand hall and marble stairway you feel that you are in a special place but when we looked up and gazed at the magnificent fresco on the ceiling above the stair case we were all awe-struck!!. Our apartment consisted of two large bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen decorated very tastefully with fantastic mountain views from every room. The private gardens were a perfect way to relax on days we weren't travelling and the two girls played table-tennis and ran around enjoying the Tuscan sun-shine. On Sunday morning my eldest daughter and I went for a walk up the road by the corn fields with the mountains as a back drop and we were greeted by the local people passing by and we soaked up the Tuscan atmosphere. We thank Donatella and Antonio from the bottom of our hearts for making us feel at home in their home and for their hospitality including taking us to and from the airport. We hope to return some day soon..

Thank you for yur prompt and kind review of your stay in the castle. I am happy to read that you got the feel of the house and the friendly atmoshere of living in Tuscany. You have seen many places, but there are further beautiful sites to visit in the area; see you soon!!

“A little touch of heaven”

Our stay at the Villa di Lupo was wonderful. Donatella and Antonio are magnificent hosts. Their love of the historic value of the villa is evident every time they speak of the villa. The restoration of the villa is very impressive. We plan to make this our home base for our upcoming visits to Italy. I would love to bring the villa and it's proprietors to the US.

Thank you so much for getting the feel of the house and sharing our love for the villa and its story. We look forward to welcoming you again soon at villa Di Lupo Parra

“perfection”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2011

I am almost afraid to write this review in case I have trouble with availability next year. We have visited the villa on 3 occasions and each one has been memorable. Our elder daughter is visiting in September because we are always so full of praise of the villa and the area For 2 years we stayed in the ground floor apartment which has everything one could possibly need including a washing machine which is very useful for stays of more than a week. This year we were in a restored 1st floor apartment and it was a joy to waken in the morning and have the original frescoes overhead. The restoration has been very lovingly carried out and the furniture complements it beautifully. There is a modern kitchen and the sitting room/dining room is very spacious. The shower room/toilet is also good with plenty of shelving and a hairdryer. Plentiful towels of good quality and if more are needed you only have to ask The villa itself is well placed for visiting Lucca, Florence, Pisa etc by public transport both bus and train. All information about places of interest and timetables for public transport are in the apartment and since either Donatella or Antonio will collect you from the airport who needs a car? The village is flat and bycicles are there for the use of guests who have the energy to use them. There is a very large walled garden with a table tennis table and BBQ although we were happy to sit and read on days we decided not to venture forth. There are books to borrow in English and otherl languages and board games if you are feeling competitive. The village has several places to eat but note that shops tend to remain closed on Sundays. Because we normally arrive on a Saturday Donatella has on each visit taken us to the large supermarket and shopping centre which is only a 5 minute car ride away. There is a smaller supermarket in the village which we liked to visit for fresh bread etc although we could have bought them from a small shop a few minutes walk away. This was very handy for heavy things such as bottled water We wish we had known of the Villa Di Lupo Parra earlier because, to us, it is the ideal setting. It is wonderful to realise that not just years but centuries have gone by since it was built and that it being lovingly and faithfully restored to its former beauty by The Buggiani family. You may arrive as guests but I'm sure you will leave as friends.

Warm thanks again for your wonderful and flattering review. And now, my dear friends, it is time for your fourth visit. We are so happy and really looking forward to welcoming you once more in "your" house. See you soon at Pisa airport.
