L'Antica Vetreria is the only vacation property located right inside a beautiful medieval village in Umbria, with privacy, panoramic views, evening sunsets from terraces and a pool! Just steps to the main village piazza with all shops, bar/café and restaurants. Enjoy village life in your own Villa that sleeps 10 or book one of our two bedroom apartments. Each accommodation has fully modern kitchen, spacious living room, dining room, king bedrooms and modern baths with walk-in showers. Piegaro is a beautiful and pristine village in Umbria and right on the border of Tuscany. It is a welcoming and safe village and in less than an hour visitors can explore Cortona, Assisi, Siena, Orvieto and the famous Val d'Orcia. The Villa is gorgeous with 2 story ceilings, chandeliers in huge living room and dining room, panoramic views, terrace overlooking the pool, five king bedrooms with ensuite baths, huge library with piano and bookcases, large fully equipped kitchen with all you need to prepare and serve meals and private laundry. Getting around

We recommend renting a car to see all the beautiful sights of Umbria and nearby Tuscany. Cars can be rented at arrival airports or in the nearby train station of Chiusi, 15 minutes from Piegaro.

Interaction with guest

We will provide a complete concierge experience, as we live in the village. As much or as little interaction as our guests wish. Having lived in Italy for 20 years we can provide advise for touring. We do give guests a detailed itinerary book. Free tour of village on arrival day, free local wine tour and tasting and tour of glass museum with buffet of local products at 6 Euro per person. This is an ideal way to experience the 750 years of glass making history starting in 1292 in our property.

“Our Italian Home”

That's what it feels like when we return. Home. This was our 4th stay and each was enchanting. La Cantina a two story unit overlooking farmland in the surrounding countryside. beautiful views greet you when you awake. A short walk and you are at Echoes. Espresso, pastry, prosecco, panini right on the village square. In the evening there is a delightful restaurant. Or you can take advantage of cooking classes right in your own apartment. The Tuesday wine tour is not to be missed. Blending a history lesson with a wine tasting. Later lunch in a hilltop village. A dip in the pool ends this memorable day. There are many day trips, Orvieto, Perugia, Arrezo, Assisi. Take a little longer and visit Florence. Your hosts Colleen and Tom make sure this will be a trip to remember.

“A Magical, One-of-a-Kind Place”

I don't know if I am a poetic enough writer to do justice writing about this property. Not only is there beauty to the eye in the unique, historical building, in the gorgeous views, and in the sweet village, there is also beauty for the soul in all of these elements. An experience like this is my favorite way to travel: some days my family took day trips to local sites and played tourist; other days we hung around the village, being a part of everyday community life. For the owners of this property, Colleen and Tom, this endeavor is so much more than a business; it is a passion of the heart that is evident in every detail, large and small. They are completely accessible by email, phone, or in person to share their joy and knowledge of the region, the people, and each and every logistical question you can throw their way. I traveled here with my husband and 6-year-old son, and we all found something to enjoy, and we all wished we could stay much, much longer than we were able. I can't imagine not visiting here again.

“Exceptional family holiday”

We have been fortunate to stay at L'Antica Vetreria a few times and cannot wait for our next holiday! With a variety of lodging options, we,'ve stayed in a small apartment for just the four of us, or in the glorious "Villa" with extended family. I cannot say what a magical place this is for a family get away. Colleen and Tom are amazing hosts and their accomplishment in renovating the Vetreria is truly inspirational. My children love to run about the village of Piegaro as if they own the place, and family cook-outs on the poolside terrace overlooking the valley are some of our favorite family legends. Staying in Umbria provides a low-key holiday, with plenty of options to explore historic villages, shop, and enjoy really wonderful food.
