Within a 5 mile radius, there are numerous silver sandy beaches, which can be regarded as crowded if there is anyone else there. The area is a paradise for: walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers, photographers, artists, astronomers, and people looking for a break from the hectic pace of daily life.

“Peaceful hideaway”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2016

Very comfortable and clean. We spent a week here in "summer". Access to beaches and famous wild flower machair is superb (see photos - it's really like this!). Very friendly neighbours - we met and chatted to and old-time crofter from the house up the road. Wakened by curlews and skylarks, lulled to sleep by corncrakes - fantastic wildlife all around. Even the cottage lawn is studded with wild flowers including orchids. Very handy for Bernaraigh and the ferry to Harris for day trips etc.
