Very Good

“Fabulous Cottage in a Wonderful Location!!”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2018

This blackhouse conversion has been superbly executed, giving all modern comforts inside, whilst preserving the looks of a traditional blackhouse outside, complete with a delightful garden and adjacent lazy beds (traditional vegetable/potato strip). The inside of the cottage is very tastefully decorated and shows the talents of the owner (Ian) and, especially, his daughter (Heather). The surrounds of the cottage teem with wildlife, particularly birds, and the birdsong in the morning and evening (Redshank, Curlew, Oystercatcher, Snipe, Lapwing, and Corncrake - yes, Corncrake heard and seen in the next field!) is fabulous. This was our first time in the Outer Hebrides and, of all the islands, North Uist was the one we totally fell in love with - helped in large part by the charm of Tigh na Boireach. We can't imagine a more perfect accommodation on such a wonderful isalnd.

“Lovely Quiet Place”

Cosy and well equipped cottage in lovely North Uist. Quiet location near great beach and ideal spot for cycling around islands, Berneray not far at all. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing holiday with some amazing coastline to explore.

Beautiful cottage everything was just right. Fully equipped. beautiful unspoilt area. Very cosy loads to do manage to see loads of wildlife. Lovely walks and the weather was kind

Owner's reply: Thank you to this guest. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. We can make the cottage warm and comfortable for future guests, but sadly we can't guarantee good weather every time!

“Peaceful hideaway”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2016

Very comfortable and clean. We spent a week here in "summer". Access to beaches and famous wild flower machair is superb (see photos - it's really like this!). Very friendly neighbours - we met and chatted to and old-time crofter from the house up the road. Wakened by curlews and skylarks, lulled to sleep by corncrakes - fantastic wildlife all around. Even the cottage lawn is studded with wild flowers including orchids. Very handy for Bernaraigh and the ferry to Harris for day trips etc.
