This spacious air conditioned 2 bedroom apartment is situated in Burriana Beach zone in one of the most elegant privately gated complexes in the picturesque Moorish Town of Nerja. It was a three bedroom apartment but as we like to have en-suite facilities it was decided to make it a 2 bedroom apartment with the main bedroom having an en-suite bathroom/shower room. There is a private alcove area at the back of the lounge which houses a very comfortable sofa bed for one or two persons. So in fact the apartment can easily accommodate 6 persons. There are fitted wardrobes in both bedrooms and our guests have reported the beds are comfortable. The hallway leads to a very large air conditioned lounge American style kitchen area with space to make another private area for sleeping or converting to an office. The terrace is southerly facing with the sun arriving on the terrace early in the afternoon to dusk and we feel this is a major consideration when renting at any time of the year.

It is of sufficient size for alfresco eating and sun bathing and has an awning to providing optional shading. The wifi is provided free of charge and the TV is a SMART TV which has ports for HDMI and SCART cables and also a USB port so if you may like to bring your own USB port with you for playing. One of the selected photos will show the internal private street and this is an area where parking is not allowed making it safe for children to play and walk. Another photo will show the large community swimming pool which provides the opportunity to swim and is a dream for sun worshippers. This apartment also has a very large private garage immediately below and as parking space is at a premium in the summer months this too can be a major consideration in making a decision as to which apartment to rent. Whilst many of our guests in our other Villa and apartment at this Edificio have not rented a car we recommend this especially if you are wishing to visit the nearby mountain village of Frigiliana, or nearby Granada or Malaga or even the famous Nerja Caves. However many of our guests (in the very popular months of July and August) have found that taking the bus to and/ or from the old town of Nerja is also one of the most convenient ways to visit central Nerja including the Balcon de Europa - the bus stop is also close by. The apartment is situated just a short walk from the large sandy Burriana Beach with amenities such as Spanish supermarkets (SuperSol and Mercadona) also very nearby this is an ideal location for use all the year round. Here you can find all sorts of water sports, a tennis club is nearby and in the autumn to spring months the heated indoor Olympic swimming pool is next to SuperSol supermarket mentioned above. A golf course is just 15 minutes drive away and many of our guests have reported that whilst their spouses have played golf they have enjoyed shopping in the quaint and unique shops of central Nerja and taking in the atmosphere of this truly historic Andalucian Old Town.If you are seeking a base for a family holiday to enjoy a fantastic beach holiday, looking for a base to go touring, seeking a sporting holiday such as water sports, tennis, golf or simply wishing to enjoy the great quality and fantastically priced Andalucian food we feel our apartment would be ideal for you and your family. We do have a private villa and a further smaller two bedroomed apartment at this Edificio so if there is a group wishing to spend a holiday or celebration together in Nerja then we would do our very best to accommodate you at Residencial Aljamar. These are both advertised on this website as Aljamar 8a Burriana Beach and Aljamar apartment 4 Burrriana Beach.Electricity and water charges are not included from October to April and will be added according to usage. The owner will work this out from arrival to departure and request guests to pay when they leave.Just a word about smoking - we do not encourage this in any of the properties and would ask you in the interest of all our guests only to smoke on the outside terraces. If you are seeking a quiet haven to just relax yet enjoy all the nearby facilities then this property is just right for you and your family. Many of our guests who come for a holiday in the summer now return in the winter months for longer periods as this apartment is most comfortable and with the airconditioning also providing hot air it is a place to just enjoy. when renting a property a major consideration is the position of the sun and for this property it ticks all the boxes i.e. the sun is on the terrace from early afternoon to sundown all the year round. We try to keep all of our properties as if we live in them ourselves and many of our guests have commented on the facilities provided being being "homely", spacious and cosy.

The Costa del Sol region

It is often said that the province of Malaga is a small continent and somewhat pretentious - there is a small element of truth in it. Although the smallest province in Andalucia measuring 7272 square km it is indeed a land of contrast. Mountains, sea rural and mountain villages and sophisticated tourists resorts. The 161 km of the Malaga coastline is mosrly beach and hence the finest restaurants are within shouting distance of the beaches and the best climate. Nerja is situated just a 45 minute drive from Malaga and has all of the attractions mentioned above. It is a little gem of a spanish working town not spoiled by high rise blocks and with it's tropical climate protected by the mountains the sun shines most of the year round.

Nerja

Our apartment is directly owned and rented by ourselves and is closely situated near to Burriana Beach on the east side of the old Andalucian town of Nerja. We chose this location to purchase our property when it was built in 2003 as it is situated in a green belt area and provides a peaceful zone to relax and enjoy a holiday or longer stay. Many of our guests have describe it as a "peaceful haven". Being so near to the beach and shops, a hiring car is not absolutely essential but for those of you who wish to use our apartment as a base to tour then you would find this useful. The private garage is situated immediately below the apartment. The position of the sun was an important consideration when purchasing the apartment in 2003. Having the sun fall on the terrace and the front of the apartment from early afternoon onwards ensures it is comfortable and warm in winter months especially in the afternoons and evening and in the summer the apartment will not be so hot in the morning which for many people is a"plus"as they take advantage of a longer stay in bed or carry out essential workings or visit the town or go shopping etc.

The air conditioning provides both hot and cold air so you can regulate the temperature of the apartment to your choice both in winter and in summer.

Early morning sun is provided at the Edificio community pool which, compared to other pools in other Edificios, is large enough to actually swim and the surrounding garden area is ideal for sun lovers to bathe and relax. The pool is open usually from the middle of March to the very beginning of November. Many of our guests have been walkers and the nearby mountain town of Frigliana and the famous Nerja caves are accessible by walking or taking the bus from the bus station. The local bus stop is just a very short walk from the apartment. This regular local bus service route takes you to the centre of town and is very inexpensive. Those guests who have hired a car often have reported that the car was used very little to go into the centre of town and that they preferred to use the bus service especially in the high season when it is very difficult to drive into town as the roads in the centre are not equpped to cope with high volumes of traffic.

There are many different beaches in Nerja with Burriana being one which in our opinion meets the needs of most of our guests and in particular families and children of all ages. There are sports facilities very close including tennis, paddle, the use of an Olympic swimming pool. The old town centre is one of the finest examples of a working Spanish town with its cobbles streets and whitewashed houses and the tradition is set to remain with restrictions on development in the town and surrounding areas. At the heart of the town is the Balcon de Europa, a palm tree lined promenade built along the edge of a cliff and out to sea with panoramic views of the Mediteranean. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from not only at Burriana Beach but in all areas of nerja with many retaining their typical Andalucian charm plus of course a great variety of international cuisine to choose from. Shopping is plentiful and there is a local market every Tuesday morning and a very interesting and popular flea market on a Sunday market both situated within walking distance of the apartment. We have prepared an information pack based in the apartment to provide some of essential information which may prove to be of interest to you. This includes contact telephone numbers in case of emergencies and some recommendations based on our own experiences,of restaurants and bars which we use on a regular basis as residents.

Getting around

Our apartment has a large private garage immediately below the apartment This is a must if you are arriving with a car because car parking spaces are at a premium in Nerja especially in the high seasons. Also this means that your car is parked in the shade - another important consideration in the summer months. If you do not have a car then there is no problems as we can provide help with booking our regular local taxi driver team (Miguel or his son Javier) to assist you. There is also a bus stop within 2 mins walk of this Edificio. The local information pack contains a sheet on how to walk too and from Burriana beach and to the centre of town
