“Cosy confortable pet friendly cottage with stunning rear views”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2017

Just returned from a wonderful week's break at Paula's cosy comfortable Gower bungalow and even though the weather was inclement we enjoyed every single minute, Can't wait to book a return visit for next year. The bungalow size was perfect for two adults and possibly two small children but would be a bit too cosy for four adults. You enter to immediate rooms both left and right. The double bedroom to the left and the w.c. shower, and hand basin to the right. Next down the corridor on the right is the second bedroom with twin bunk beds. At the end of the corridor is the well equipped open plan lounge and kitchen. The lounge area has two and three seater comfortable sofas. Twin doors then lead out to a beautiful conservatory which also doubles for a dining area and which also has a stunning view over Mumbles hill and the coastal path. The fully enclosed decked garden is split level with comfortable rattan garden furniture as well as an outside dining table. The garden is fully secure for all worried pet owners. Our dog loved it out there. The bungalow is perfect as a base for touring the Gower, including the pretty village of Mumbles itself. Nearby are two secluded bays perfect for water sports, Langland and Caswell, and trips to Port Eynon and Rhosilli and the Worm's Head are a must but pack your walking boots for the latter. The views are stunning. Neither of us are walkers but the area attracts walkers in their droves able to access the coastal path all the way to Pembrokeshire if you want!!! I am a keen fisherman and could not stop catching fish. You can fish off the rocks at nearby Limeslade and Bracelet Bays but for more comfort try Knab Rock (you can even sit on a promenade bench whilst fishing). Mumbles Pier also provides platform fishing into deep water but whereas the other three venues are free the Pier charges per rod. My wife is a keen shopper and she was absolutely well catered for. Retail parks at Fforestfatch and especially, Parc Trostre at Llanelli are a must with everything from Primark to Debenhams, Tesco Extra, and everything in between. Infact Parc Trostre can't all be done in one day! These parks are only 6 and 16 miles away respectively by car and maximum travel time is 25 minutes. On top of these you've got Swansea itself with the Quadrant Shopping Centre and a mega brand new Debenhams. For Sunday morning boot sale lovers forget the Liberty Stadium. It is a letdown, but definitely try the High Street Traders one in the multi storey car park opposite the station. Park on levels one and two or eight and nine and browse all the stalls on levels 3,4,5,6, and 7. Five floors of fun! All in all we had a wonderful time and can't praise the bungalow and the area too highly. Can't wait to go back next year. Thanks Paula.

Owner's reply: Hi Alan Thank you for such a lovely review and to say it was my pleasure meeting you your wife and lovely dog on your arrival. Your more than welcome back.

“Perfect”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2017

We have just returned from our 2nd visit to The Gower Bungalow. For us it was the perfect base for a brilliant family holiday. The bungalow is cosy, comfy and spotlessly clean. The view from the conservarory is beautiful and the location is so peacful and quiet. (Even tbough we had our 4 and 6yr old girls with us!) The bungalow is very near to the coastal path and there are instructions inside the bungalow on how to reach it. Our girls easily managed the walk down to the ice cream shop and the little bay. We cannot fault The Gower Bungalow in any way. We have made some fabulous memories here and we will definitely be returning for our 3rd visit.

“Great Location, nice little bungalow”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2016

The bungalow is well situated near The Mumbles. The garden is really decking, but with plenty of seating, it is very secure and as we had taken our 7 month old Chihuahua we were able to relax knowing she could not escape. The bed was comfortable but unfortunately the perspex roof in the bay window was a bit noisy when it rained which unfortunately it did on our first 2 nights, so our sleep was disturbed. The wet room is great, but I would suggest taking flip flops to avoid the wet floor which does take a bit of time to dry. The sofa is great, but a little tired, as is the fridge, both could do with replacing. A few more bits in the kitchen would help, we do not eat out because of the dog and I found I was hunting for smaller items ie: small jug and bowls for the microwave and oven (plenty of large bowls) but not suitable for the 2 of us. Would I stay here again, yes we would despite the above comments it was a lovely place. Although some of the beaches did not allow dogs between 1 May and 30 Sept. We were still able to find plenty of beaches for us to visit with the dog.

Owner's reply: Since this review was posted we have taken steps to address where possible the issues raised. We now have brand new three and two seater leather sofas to replace the old corner unit. There is a brand new fridge and we have made very significant changes to what was the wet room. It now has an enclosed glass sliding shower unit. We will not be replacing the polycarbonate roof that covers the bay window area as we feel this is generally appreciated by visitors for the additional light it allows into the room. We are welcoming of constructive criticism in order that we can where possible demonstrate our commitment to providing a comfortable and positive stay for our visitors.

“Comfortable, well equipped bungalow in fantastic location”

Reviewed 3 Feb 2014

We stayed here on a weekend break in January and we found the bungalow to be warm and welcoming. The central heating is on a timer which has generous times and there are plenty of electric heaters for you to put on if you are in when the heating is off. The kitchen/living area is lovely and very well equipped with the sofa in the living area being very comfortable. The location is fantastic - you step out and turn one way right on to the coastal path and turn the other way to walk alongside the coast to the village of Mumbles. Will definitely stay again.

“Delightful clean comfortable bungalow with delightful beaches and walks local”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2013

We booked bungalow at short notice and was delighted at the accommodation and surroundings as well as the good communication by Paula who replied very quickly and made the process fast and easy. The bungalow has 2 bedrooms 1 double 1 single with bunk beds which are very comfortable, there's a wet room and lovely living area with a delightful conservatory which catches the sun lovely, we took 2 cars and managed to park them both no problems one on the drive and the other using the parking bay opposite neighbours and locals were lovely too, my mother is disabled and has mobility issues she found no difficulty with mobility in and around property at all, we also took our dog the bungalow is 5 minutes walk away from 2 small beaches limeslade and bracelet bay as well as the scenic gower path coastal walk, the views are breath taking mumbles village is about 10 minutes if that in a car which hosts some lovely little shops and joes ice cream parlour! If your looking for a great break away from city life this is perfect, The bungalow was very clean and made a delightful stay thank you we will be returning : )

“Lovely quiet bungalow in a great location for coastal walks.”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2013

A lovely, tidy bungalow in a great location for access to coastal walks around the Mumbles. Excellent value for money and we were able to relax in the bungalow very quickly with our 1 year old. A lively Italian restaurant is within walking distance which has fantastic views over Swansea Bay and a children's play area. Would recommend to anyone with children. Caswell bay is a short drive away, and is a gem of a beach for families.

“Very nice and well equipped cottage in excellent location”

This is a really nice cottage only yards from the coastal path which has stunning views. The cottage offered us everything we were looking for, was nice and warm despite it being freezing outside and had a very well kitted out kitchen. Thank you :-)

“not as good as expected”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2012

although it was a nice bungalow in many respects, it has its faults the biggest problem is the parking, the forecourt is not large enough exept for very small cars and the alternative parking space opposite the bungalow was not available to use at any time, we had to park on the pavement in front of the bungalow as the road is very narrow. Secondly the wet room floor got very wet allover, as much as we tried to prevent it, as the shower curtain was too short and there was no curtain at all accross the end near the wash basin, the floor then took hours to dry even though we used the mop, this wasn't adiquate enough for the floor type which doesn't dry very quickly. Lastly we didn't expect that the second bedroom for myself or friend was going to be so tiny, it is only large enough for two children, there is no wardrobe or drawers. The double bedroom was ok , beds were very confortable. The lounge and conservatory were very confortable for the two of us but would not have been happy had we been a group of four adults, We have stayed in many bungalows and cottages, but i'm afraid this was probably the worst overall. This bungalow only large enough for a couple with two children, defo not for four adults.

Owner's reply: Comments have been noted and where possible action taken. The parking space is adequate for an average size car including my own 4 x 4. The parking bay across the road was unusually busy at the time of these visitors stay as there were builders to another nearby bungalow. Generally speaking the bay is empty. The wet room is simply that, I do appreciate it does get wet, but we are going to resist a cubicle with all the mastic and mould that goes with it. The visitor does have a good point in that although two bedroomed its not really suitable for four adults, the bunk beds are adult in size but the room is suitable more for children. We welcome comments and constructive criticism of Gower Bungalow as it is very important to us that we provide a good and improving experience for all of our customers.
