The Harmony Retreat is conveniently located less than 2 miles north of Mossyrock (just off US Hwy 12/White Pass Scenic Byway & 20 miles east of I-5's exit 68), on the east end of beautiful Mayfield Lake in a quiet, upscale lakeside neighborhood. The west-facing custom built home is directly across the street from the lake and has lake views from most of the rooms and from the covered deck. In the evening, watch the sun set over the glistening lake, and at night, gaze at the stars shining brightly in the night sky, unobstructed by city lights. In winter, snow sports are just an hour away at White Pass Ski Resort and Mt. Rainier National Park.
The Harmony Retreat is large enough for a family to enjoy, yet intimate enough for a couple's romantic getaway. The upstairs primary suite features a queen bed with memory foam topper, vaulted ceiling and ceiling fan, sitting area, satellite TV, and a full bathroom with a soaking tub and double sinks. there is also a twin chairbed in the master suite. In the open loft, there is a full bed. On the main level, the second bedroom has a full bed. Across the hall, the second full bathroom honors the lake setting with its rustic cabin decor.
The Harmony Retreat's Great Room invites the outside in with its two-story wall of windows facing the lake. This room features a fireplace, 32" HD LCD TV with DVD player and satellite tv, hardwood floors, ceiling fan, and a spacious sofa that converts to a bed (a twin rollaway bed and porta-crib provide additional sleeping options). The large, open kitchen is fully equipped with all you need to enjoy cooking and dining at this lakeside retreat. The dining table and counter bar seat 8.
The Harmony Retreat has secure wireless Internet access, so feel free to bring your laptop or notebook. Local phone service is free; bring a calling card or your cell phone for long distance calls. Enjoy a variety of board games, books, magazines, and DVDs for all ages. Plenty of bedding is provided for the extra beds, with total sleeping accommodations for up to 7 (note that two of the sleeping areas are in the open loft and living room, so not a lot of privacy; ask about larger groups and nearby accommodations). Central heating and the fireplace create a warm ambiance in winter. Air conditioning and ceiling fans keep the home cool in the summer. There's a complete laundry room with washer, dryer, iron and ironing board too.
Outside, soak in the new hot tub year-round and enjoy the 1/3-acre property which features richly varied naturescaping, with stone paths, a dry creek, garden art, and many whimsical touches. Lovingly created by the original owners through years of dedicated gardening, these grounds are a retreat too, a place to become steeped in nature's beauty, while walking the paths, meditating under a canopy of tree branches, resting on a hammock, or viewing from the second floor deck. Relax on the patio and enjoy grilling fresh-caught fish on the gas barbecue grill on the covered upper deck.
The private community boat launch is just a block down the street, where you can launch your motor boat for a day of fishing or water-skiing (note: there is no moorage and vehicles and trailers must be parked at house after launching). Or bring your jet-skis, canoe, kayak, or raft to explore the 13-mile lake and adjacent Cowlitz River canyon. There is also a private community dock and picnic area located across the street through a greenbelt.
Bike, jog, or walk on scenic country roads that meander through forest and meadows, where you're likely to spot farm animals, fields of flowers, wildlife, birds, and vistas of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, and the neighboring foothills. Or head out by car to visit the rural towns of Mossyrock and nearby Morton, walk through the show gardens of DeGoede Bulb Farm, take a day trip to Mt. Rainier, enjoy winter sports at nearby White Pass, go shopping at the outlet and antique stores and have lunch at historic McMenamins in nearby Centralia, view Mt. St. Helens from the northeast approach, and drive the back roads of this unique region.
