Description

The marshwood vale.
Colmer sits at the top of the Marshwood vale and from the top of the drive there are stunning views across to the sea of Lyme bay. There are long or short walks in the immediate area. From Colmer it is an easy stroll to the local pup for good food and beer. In this area there are ample places to eat and drink just a short drive away, you can dine on caribbean, or pop to the coast for fish and chips.
The area of Lyme Regis.
Lyme is an old fishing town full of character with plenty of things to do and see. Further along the coast you have the unspoilt fishing village of Beer . There is also the famous jurassic coastline which is only 10 minutes away, plenty to do wind, rain or shine.

Colmer Farmhouse is a 15th cetury house sleeping six in comfort
The farmhouse has many old features, oak beams, flagstone floors, inglenook fireplace with a bread oven. There is a kitchen with AGA, fridge, washing machine, microwave and dishwasher.There is a separate dining room next to the kitchen. The sitting room has an inglenook fire place, woodburning stove, television and ample sofas and easy chairs,etc.Upstairs there are three large bedrooms, two with double beds and one with two single beds.

“Perfect location to get away from it all”

We had a lovely stay and the location was excellent for exploring the nearby attractions of the Jurassic Coast. The property was very cosy and suited our needs down to the ground. Would highly recommend it if you wanted peace and quiet at the end of a busy day out and about!

I had not used this site before, but the whole thing was very smooth sailing. Steve was very helpful with all my questions by email before arrival, so we were relaxed the minute we left home.The farmhouse is much larger than expected, and exactly what we'd hoped- rustic, traditionally furnished and soooo quiet! Literally perfect for my three quirky kids! We also have two rescue dogs who were allowed to stay in the kitchen area while we went out (I notice not many places allow pets unattended). They were perfectly happy to be left, as they were permanently tired by the miles and miles of field walks (with no other people or dogs, just foxes, Stags, rabbits etc), which Steve pointed out to us on arrival. We took up the offer of linen provided, and that came with towels and extra blankets and pillows if needed which was really convenient.The garden is fenced off ,and the other side of the fence are two retired horses and views of the countryside as far as you can see. We kept our dogs on long leads in the garden to avoid then finding an escape route, just in case. The countryside around is beautiful, and it's a short drive to the coast, for fossil hunting at Charmouth or a traditional seaside day out in Lyme Regis etc etc. We did have an issue with buzzy beasties on arrival (which the owners hadn't known about, but this was quickly dealt with), it is the countryside after all ! We all just loved it, and were sad to drive away on the last day. Can't wait to go back soon. Thanks Brenda and Steve.x

This is a lovely, quirky old cottage in a very pretty spot. We stayed for a night to break the journey back from Cornwall, it was my birthday and we had a beautiful family meal in the garden looking over the trees and valley. It’s very quiet, apart from horses and birdsong. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and took time to show our boys (3 and 6) the horses. Only downsides really are that you can’t wander around too much beyond the cottage and its garden with the kids. The double bed we slept in was super comfy, but the other one was on the saggy side (probably only a problem if you have back trouble). The area is beautiful too, high above the Dorset coast, but really quiet, even on a sunny Sunday morning. Great value - same cost as a Travelodge and 100 times nicer (if you don’t mind bringing your own sheets). Thanks.

“Charming cottage”

A lovely period farm cottage, with stone floors and wood beams. Fire and Aga kept us cosy, although I was glad I took my slippers as advised! Spacious bedrooms meant our large family were very comfortable. Felt very welcome and an extra treat was being greeted by the horses each morning. Will definitely return next year if not before!
