“A beautiful, well-kept, friendly place to stay with excellent amenities.”

Reviewed 12 Nov 2013

Greeted by scones and jam, and farm-fresh milk, we had a comfortable stay from start to finish at a difficult time for the family. Michael and Eileen never intruded but were always there for us. The beds were clean, warm and comfortable, the kitchen and living area superb, as were the bathrooms. and laundry facilities. There is a superb view from the balcony, lots to read and games to play as an alternative to the TV which includes satellite. The surrounding farm is lovely with obviously contented cattle, hens and two happily friendly dogs. We hope to return for a proper holiday as soon as we can.

“Tranquil, homely, very happy stay......”

My husband, myself & our 2 children stayed at "The Barn" in Copper Beech Farm for four nights & we had a lovely time. The first day we arrived Eileen had put lovelt garden flowers on the table & left some homemade scones & a jug of milk in the fridge for us which I thought was so kind & immediately made us feel welcome. The children loved going out to collect the eggs in the morning for breakfast & playing with Pepper & Millie the 2 pet dogs. The first morning the children watched the Sheehan family out the window move the calves from the lower field below the Barn up the farm yard & they were fascinated by this. They got to watch Michael milk the cows one of the evenings & loved that also. We had a great time at Copper Beech Farm & would have no problems recommeding this warm, homely, welcoming accommodation to anyone.

“Excellent cottage”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2013

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in the Barn. It accommodated our family of 5 very well. The beds were very comfortable and 2 bathrooms was a bonus. Everything was very clean and washing machine and drier worked wonderfully. There is a lovely balcony overlooking the fields which if your are lucky with the weather like we were is beautiful to sit with a tea or coffee in the sun in the morning. kitchen was well set up for self catering but we ended up having dinner both nights at Kirby's Korner which was both very good value and superb in terms of quality and flavour. There are lots of little villages near by to explore. We arrived at milking time and Eileen took us up to the dairy so the kids could see how the cows were milked. The kids also really enjoyed collecting eggs and playing soccer/football with the boys. Thank you for a great few days. We wish we had booked longer.

“Perfect accommodation, great location, superb hosts”

Reviewed 8 May 2013

Copper Beech Farm was everything that we could have hoped for and more. The Barn was well-furnished, very attractive and had everything we could possibly need. With its location close to Cork, Kinsale and beyond, our vacation was full of adventure. The Sheehan family were charming hosts, answering all of our questions and providing good advice for our young family. In particular, our two young boys had a wonderful time helping to milk the cows, feed the calves and bounce on the trampoline. We particularly enjoyed the wood stove in the evenings and the beautiful countryside that surrounds it. We would strongly recommend Copper Beech Farm.

“As always, a great experience at Copper Beech Farm”

This was our third stay here, and we found it again very comfortable, despite the pretty chilly Irish weather. There are 2 bedrooms downstairs and the living/dining space is upstairs. The table is big enough to easily seat more than four (nice for us as we like to have friends over once during the stay), and the kitchen comes with all the usual appliances (toaster, microwave, electric kettle etc.), so cooking is a breeze. The scones with jam and butter on arrival are a sweet touch, as well as the fresh flowers from the garden. We also found firewood and built a fire on those nights when we stayed in. The views from most rooms are pretty, over fields and rolling hills. There is also a little balcony off the living space with a small table, so in theory you could sit out, but it has almost never been mild enough for us to do that. On the farm itself is a playground for kids with a trampoline and some toys, which our two girls loved. The also loved helping to feed the calves and watching the milking, and farmer Michael was always friendly and patient with them. We loved being able to have access to the fresh milk straight from the tank. There are also two friendly dogs, and in previous years we were able to gather eggs from the hens, but they weren't ready for laying yet this time. Location wise, the farm is conveniently located for the sights of West Cork (Kinsale is about 10-15 minutes drive, Cork City a bit further), and also to Cork city, but you will need a car if you stay here to get around. It is very quiet at night, so our kids always sleep later than at home, which we of course appreciate! We are very comfortable staying here, and our kids love it!

Owner's reply: Thanks for your kind response. It was nice to meet you again and we are happy that you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to meeting you again. Michael & Eileen

“Homely,peaceful,family friendly setting”

Reviewed 16 Dec 2012

We received a lovely, warm welcome from Michael on our arrival after a long journey and were delighted to find fresh milk in the fridge and homemade scones. To our son's delight Michael gave us a tour of the farm and spent time demonstrating the art of milking to him. The apartment was ideal for us, with the kids (age 7 and 11) sharing a room with their own bathroom. They had bunk beds which the kids enjoyed too. There is plenty of space in the open plan dining/living area and a fully equipped kitchen. There is plenty of space outside for the kids to ride bikes and a play area with a trampoline. As a base to explore Kinsale and the surrounding area we found it ideal as it was only a short drive away.

Owner's reply: Thanks for taking the time to give us your review. We are glad you all enjoyed your stay at Copper Beech Farm.

“Relax in Ballinhassig”

We spent a very relaxing week at Copper Beech Farm with our two young sons. There are lots of excellent amenities nearby and stunning scenery to be enjoyed. Michael and his family were very hospitable and the cottage was very reasonably priced. A great escape from urban life!

Owner's reply: Thanks for your review. We appreciate your kind words.

“definately where we will stay for all future trips to Ireland”

Reviewed 10 Dec 2012

Having relatives in the area (and our family home sold) my family and I needed to find a holiday home for our visits to Ireland. Cooper Beach Farm looked too good to be true on the internet so I asked my brother and sister-in-law to visit in person before making the booking. We were very pleased on our arrival to find that everything lived up to my family's recommendation and the website photos and definately plan on staying here again for all our future visits. The location also was perfect. It offers the peace and tranquility of the countryside, the excitement of being on a working farm, convenience of having the property owners close by and a short drive to Cork city and Kinsale. Despite an unseasonably cold and wet June, we were very comfortable in the house (once we figured out how to program each room heater individualy, which was a simple process once done the first time). I would not have thought to even mention this if I had not read that another visitor felt the property was damp and cold. Last year I even read a review from someone who stayed during a time when all water pipes in the area froze due to sub-zero temperatures but remained toasty in this house. Having a washer, dryer, games, movies, etc on hand was also a huge bonus given we were travelling with our 2 and 4 year old daughters. When the weather was dry, they also loved the trampoline, toy shed, chickens, the old dog (whose name I forget) and waving to the cows. Micheal and Eileen (while never intruding) were very friendly and helpful. Michael re-connected the TV for us when we somehow disconnected ourselves and also arranged to loan us an internet modem so that my husband could take care of some business. I have already recommended the rental properties at Copper Beach Farm to a colleague who may visit with his wife next week and will be highly recommending to anyone else I know who may be visiting the area.

Owner's reply: Thanks for your kind review. We enjoyed meeting you and sharing our farm with you. We look forward to meeting you again.
