Moynihan's Toe Head
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your home. The house is in a stunning location with simply the most amazing views, however what made this holiday one off the best for is was dealing with the owners Paula and the most Pauline, both ladies are a pleasure to deal with and couldn't do enough for us. The local knowledge of the area and things to do was second to none esp the things you won't find in a guide book. We will be back. We loved it. Thank you. …
Well equipped and great location
We have stayed here both in Spring and Summer and the house is cosy in the cold weather due to a lovely log fire and great in the summer too with a sun trap of a garden.
The kitchen is very well equipped - love the american style fridge/freezer - which made cooking a breeze.
The first time we stayed there were just four of us and we didn't rattle around. The second time there were nine of us and we didn't feeled squashed in either.
Despite being a small village it had plenty to do within walking distance, including a pebble beach and rockpools and a playground for the children. For the rest of us there was also Mary Ann's - a pub/restaurant with excellent food. There is a small sandy beach only three minutes drive away which was never overcrowded.
We have many happy memories of both holidays and I'm sure we'll be back. …
What an amazing place
We are an Irish family living in Asia & have visited this property twice when we return to Ireland for a summer holiday. We really love the house, the village it's situated in and the general area of West Cork.
The local village pub is great, does good food & is a short walk away. We regularly also walked down to the Village pier or cycled to the nearby coves and beaches. The owners have young kids themselves & were great with suggestions on everything from great nearby restauraunts, day trips & also the many kids activities like sailing & horse riding.
Overall a first class experience, we'll definitely return. …
10, The Lawn, Castletownshend
comfortable, dry and friendly
This was a really good house. Other accounts here proved to be detailed and accurate so I'll only add a few things: inside is surprisingly spacious, and well furnished with comfortable, solid sofas and beds. There's attractive artwork around the house too: some fine pottery and candleholders; I particularly like the black and white framed photos in the living room. It's all been thought about and makes for a good space to be in. The back garden is a decent size to sit in and have supper on a fine evening (if you're lucky enough!) with a big table to sit round and a couple of recliners. The kitchen has everything we wanted - even a garlic crusher. Of course if what you're looking for is a funky cottage perching on a clifftop, then this modern house on a small estate at the edge of the village may not be your dream, but if you want a comfortable place to come back to after a day on the beaches or the sea or walking round Sherkin, to cook a good meal, and play board games or watch television on the large screen, or just have a cup of tea before going out to Mary Ann's bar a short walk down the hill, then I don't think you could do much better. We had a great time! …
