Location description from owner

Northern Ireland region

The Fermanagh Lakelands region not only provides visitors with spectacular scenery, but is also steeped in history and heritage, with ancient monastries, round towers, Plantation castles and National Trust stately properties to visit. It offers an impressive range of outdoor activities, especally water sports such as boating, sailing, wind surfing, water-skiing, and is excellent for fishing, cycling and walking. Other activities include pot-holing, climbing, horse-riding, golf and flying.

The ancient County town of Enniskillen, about 20 minutes' drive, has a good range of shops, restaurants and pubs. It also has a cinema, the Ardowan Theatre, a Sports Leisure centre and the Enniskillen Castle Musem. It is a good place to catch a boat trip to one of the nearby islands.

In addition, Portinode is within 25 miniutes' drive of the dramatic coastline of County Donegal, with its unspoilt, sandy beaches and Atlantic rollers, great for surfing enthusiasts. The Water World Centre at Bundoran offers a fun family alternative to the beach.

Kesh

The village of Kesh, only 10 minutes' drive, has a good range of shops, with a few pubs and restaurants, including 'Take Aways'. Lusty Beg Island is also close by (approximately 3 miles), and has a free ferry to take you across to the bar and restaurant and other facilities on the island. Castle Archdale country park offers horse riding, great walks and a war time museum, while in the nearby town of Irvinestown there is a ten pin bowling alley.
