Sunniest region in France. Major wine growing area with lots of good restaurants (30 Michelin within 25 kms). There is so much to see in this area of France: beautiful villages, castles, abbeys and vineyards. Historic cities of Carcassonne, Minerve, Narbonne, Beziers and Perpignan . Plenty of sunny beaches, rivers and lakes with the Black mountains to north and the Corbieres to the south.
La Pepiniere is in the lovely village of Homps which is situated on the banks of the Canal du Midi (UNESCO World Heritage site). The villa is a 7-8 minutes walk from the canal which has lots of tourist boats passing by in the summer. Six restaurants and a bar can be found on the canal side. There is a shop within walking distance (0.5km), or a number of larger supermarkets in driving distance, Olonzac (3km), Leznignan (11km), Rieux (14km), Trebes (26km) and Narbonne (28km). There is an excellent market at Olonzac each Tuesday morning and an ever bigger market at Lezignan on Wednesdays.
Historic sites include Minerve, Carcassonne, Beziers, Narbonne, Perpignan and many Cathar castles, including those at Lastours, Queribus and Peyrepertuse. There is swimming and kayaking at the local lake and river Aude. Bikes can be hired in Homps to explore the local area and to ride along the banks of the Canal du Midi. Cruises on the Canal du Midi can be boarded at Homps.
Golf courses are at Carcassonne and Beziers.

"Perfect place - quiet location yet an easy walk to all we needed."
We were a group of 6 adults and had a fabulous time using La Pepiniere as a base exploring on foot, cycles (delivered to the door!) and a couple of car trips or just chilling by the pool. The local mini-market provided a more than an adequate range to meet our needs and the village baker even provided fresh gluten free bread on a daily basis. The town has a good range of bars and restaurants to keep you fed and watered whether you are looking for a quick snack or something a little more high cuisine. The house is so well equipped it's hard to think of anything that would have improved our stay. We would definitely book again .

This villa is simply amazing - it's well equipped (the owners have thought of everything) , modern, clean and enough space and equipment for at least 8 people. The owner will assist you with any queries you may have about the area or the villa - nothing is too much trouble . The area is quiet but there are enough little bars and restaurants to keep you busy . Can highly recommend this villa with its own very private pool and sunbathing area - the only problem is it will be hard to find another one of this standard in the future xx

"Top quality rental house"
The house was very well equipped with good quality furnishings. It was spacious and had everything that we needed and more. We enjoyed the location and the local shop was very useful as well as the restaurants within walking distance.

"Everything you could possibly need from a holiday let and more!"
A lovely property which is extremely well equipped. Really large rooms. Very light downstairs. Having two bedrooms upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs means two families or pair of friends can have the privacy of separate areas of the house. Very comfortable beds Swimming pool large and very clean.

"Excellent house in wonderful village"
This was our sixth year staying in Homps but our first year in this house. As other reviewers have said the house is excellent and well equipped to a high standard. The owners have clearly put a lot of thought into having everything you need for a great holiday. It was a bonus to have air conditioning as it was very hot when we were there. As stated above this was the sixth time we have stayed in Homps and each year there have been changes in the village all to the good. You would find it hard to find such a good selection of restaurants in a small village anywhere. A great holiday.

"Spacious, comfortable and well equipped with a really good pool"
there were 6 of us with a baby and we enjoyed a lovely week at La Pepiniere -plenty of space for us all and great places to visit not too far away. Several nice bars by the canal for an aperitif in the evening and a very well stocked little supermarket at the filling station.

"Fantastic 2 weeks in Homps 13-27 July"
The villa is superb, modern, clean, and well equipped. The air conditioning is good, particularly at night. Wonderful peaceful location in the village, close to the supermarket and the canal. The pool is a good size and the garden catches the sun all day. The weather was fantastic, mid 30's most days & we did reach 40 degrees for a couple of days, the breeze that is often there is a blessing. The area is beautiful, mountains, vines, picturesque villages and the canal. Lots to see and do close by, the barge ride on the canal (booked in Homps) is a lovely way to spend 2 hours on a hot sunny afternoon, we hired bikes in Homps and road along the canal path which was great fun. We would recommend visits to Minerve (20mins), Carcassonne (40mins) which has to be scene to be appreciated, and the Cathar ruins at Lastours (12km north of Carcassonne) which are breathtaking from the viewpoint at Belvedere (2 euros to enter but well worth it) the coach route via Salsigne is slightly longer (4km) but avoids the very narrow and steep road up from the village. The 9 locks at Fonseranes (near Beziers) are worth a visit and wait if you can for a boat to go through to see them in action. A brilliant holiday, we will definitely be coming back & thoroughly recommend La Pepiniere.

"Spacious, comfortable villa with a superb, private pool"
This is a large, comfortable, well equipped villa. There are four, large bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen and lounge well big enough to support the number of beds in the property. There is off road parking at the front and the rear of the property has a superb pool, plenty large enough to swim in and play in. We were joined by others and with six adults in the pool there was still lots of room. The pool and patio areas are quite private. We were very comfortable there and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area. Homps is a delightful little town. There are several restaurants and cafes along side the canal, a couple of minutes walk away. The little local supermarket is very well stocked and reasonably priced. Olonzac (5 minutes by car or a pleasant 25 minute stroll along a lane) has more shops and cafes and a superb open market every Tuesday. The canal provides walks, cycle rides, boat hire and canal barge trips all from Homps. Lac Jouarre is 15 minutes walk away. If you want to drive then there are endless places to visit including the beach. It's our second visit to Homps and it won't be our last,
