This Penthouse apartment is on the top two floors of the property however access is level to the road, there are no steps from the parking into the property.

“Drake's Drum, Chateaupre A”
Very comfortable, well equipped apartment with lots of bathrooms, a great view, but fairly high priced.

“Very cosy and convenient chalet in very close proximity to the slopes and main lift station”
Excellent location and easy to ski in and ski out with a short 100m walk to main piste down to lift station. Good skiing in Grimentz and Zinal and well worth trip over to St Luc with free ski bus - ski pass covers all local areas although going over to St Luc from Grimentz / Zinal takes about 45 mins. Chalet very clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Excellent views over Grimentz. Owner left us some basic provisions which were well received. Local supermarket near to lift station (Coop) and opens until 7pm. Apres Ski is very limited and no night life beyond 9pm. However, the Alpina Restaurant was good and there is a great Creperie in Zinal (near the Zinal lift station). Skiing is steeper terrain in Grimentz but wider pistes in Zinal. Longer runs in St Luc. Ski and boot storage also available at the lift station at 30 chf per person for 6 days (5 chf per day) and only short 5 min walk from chalet to lift station / storage. Ski and boot storage also available at the chalet.

Awesome views and lots to do and see locally. Accommodation great with responsive, flexible and helpful owner. Classic wooden alpine village, very quiet in summer.

“A wonderful comfortable stylish roomy quiet ski apartment”
We have just returned from an amazing week at Drake's Drum. We we extremely pleasantly surprised to find it far roomier than expected. It was wonderfully quiet yet a very short distance to the piste/lift. The rooms were furnished to a very high standard and the whole apartment exceeded our expectations. The beds were extremely comfortable and we overslept every day which was a sure indication of the level of relaxation we achieved in the apartment. The underfloor heating was superbly complemented by the log burning stove and we were comfortably warm even when temperatures plummeted to -20C. Lorena, the owner, was extremely helpful in planning our trip and went above and beyond to ensure our visually impaired guest had a highly experienced instructor. The only downsides were that there was not quite enough soft seats for 8 but more than adequate for our group of six and there were no wooden spoons in the kitchen (which we rectified during our stay). I would thoroughly recommend this apartment to anyone and we would certainly hope to return in the future.
“Excellent location, wonderful accommodation and terrific skiing”
We had a fantastic time with ample space for the eight of us. The ski lifts were close by and we had wonderful snow cover. Our little boys went to ski school and achieved amazing results. I went dual-skiing with Annick Geiger which was amazing. Annick's contact details were given to me by Lorrena who helped us immensely with our skiing, shopping and transport contacts. The chalet was wheelchair accessible and well set out. Only problem was the accessible bathroom that wasn't really wheelchair accessible that gave me some problems. The owner is looking into rectifying this with the installation of handrails and a larger more secure shower chair. Wheelchair users really need a car but there is parking available at the door. Overall an amazing holiday destination and an extremely helpful owner.
“Drake's Drum - the perfect getaway.”
We travelled with our wheelchair dependant son, and Drake's Drum catered for his needs perfectly, without compromising the comfort of the rest of the party. The apartment is spacious and well laid out, fully equiped and self contained. The views from the windows alone are beautiful, before you even begin to explore the surrounding area. One of the balconies has a high step, but the other has a lower threshold that would not be difficult for a manual wheelchair, but this was clearly stated in advance in the advertising material, and the owners were very willing to discuss any concerns before booking. The village of Grimentz is a delight to explore, and our son was able to see all its sights by wheelchair without any difficulty. Beyond Grimentz, a visit to the nearby Dam at Moiry and the Moiry Glacier are a must-see. In July we were able to take the car almost to the foot of the glacier. In summary, Drake's Drum was a perfect home-from-home, Grimentz and the surrounding area a delight to explore and relax, and we are already planning to return again next summer.
“A nice place to have a perfect skiing week”
the appartment is very nice and well equiped; you have a beautiful room on the top floor. A wonderful view on the mountains and you have just to walk to reach the gondola and the alpine ski runs. You have alpine birds who come to eat seeds on the wood balcony during the journey. Grimentz is a very traditional switzerland village with a good snow quality( north position).
