Location description from owner

The Costa del Sol region

The Sun Coast :

Costa del Sol prides itself with one of the best climate in Europe. The usual daytime temperature is in the mid-20’s, and the chance of a rainy day is less than 10%.

Costa del Sol, also known as the Spain’s Sun Coast, is a sandy strip in the community of Andalusia, within the province of Malaga. The area was once a series of small, quiet fishing towns, but in the 1950s, developers, charmed by its beaches and local culture, thought it would be the perfect destination for international travelers and transformed it into a world-renowned tourist hotspot.

Costa del Sol has recently taken on a new nickname, Costa del Golf. That's because, as golfers can vouch, it simply became a golfer’s paradise. In all of Andalucia there are about 72 golf courses. Over half of them are along Costa del Golf. Four of them are ranked in the top 10 in Europe. It's an unmatched combination of high-quality courses and sunny climate, that has made this area the perfect Winter’s haven for many golf affecionados all over the world.

Costa del Sol in a tourist Mecca, with 150 km stretch of hotels, vacation villas, golf courses, marinas and nightclubs that runs from Torremolinos (just west of Málaga), all the way to the tip of Gibraltar. This sunshine coast includes the city of Malaga, which hosts the international airport, and the towns of Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella and more. Tourists return here year after year for their holidays, lured by miles of beautiful, sandy beaches, clear blue water, warm, sunny weather and the gracious hotels.

Each town within Costa del Sol has a different character. Málaga is a vibrant Spanish city, almost untouched by tourism. Along the coast, Torremolinos is an inexpensive destination; appealing mostly to young families, and to those who come for the sun and the late-night scene. Fuengirola is quieter, with a large, established foreign residential population. Farther west, Marbella is more exclusive and ritzy.

Fuengirola

The City

Located on the ritzy Costa del Sol, half-way between Malaga and Marbella, Fuengirola is a city with a rich Andalusian flavor, offering an extensive stretch of coastline covered with magnificent beaches. Located right by the Mediterranean, its perfect weather attracts the European elite all year-round. This upscale city offers golf courses, horse-riding centers, leisure parks, hotel complexes and excellent dining. Take a short drive and you can visit the Zoo, enjoy an unforgettable day at the water park or tour Sohail Fluvial Park, an extensive and modern recreational area crossed by a navigable canal measuring 800 meters in length.

Fuengirola sits on a narrow strip of coastline covering 8 kilometres which has a succession of some of the best beaches on the Costa del Sol. The promenade is great for walking, jogging and cycling. The pearl-cities of Malaga and Mallorca are each half-hour away.

Fuengirola used to be a tiny fishing resort, but in the 1960s the growing tourist industry took over, transforming it into a modern resort adored by Spanish nationals, as well as international tourists. It has five miles of beautiful sandy beaches and of course, the sea. Fuengirola has everything and anything that the modern tourist might need, including bars, restaurants, hotels, entertainment and self-catering apartments. There are also many shops and supermarkets in Fuengirola where one can buy many traditional products, as well as exotic delicatessen. Fuengirola’s natives don’t forget that this was a fishing town, and so, there are many first-class seafood restaurants to choose from ,where local dishes are fresh and excellently prepared Spanish-style.

Breaking news: A good part of Passeo Maritimo, Fuengirola’s popular seaside promenade, was recently given a face-lift. The avenue was expanded, in order to accommodate for its huge popularity.

“We had 10 lovely days in the apartment with beautiful view and nice days on the beach.”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2014

The big terasse was a very good place to sit eating or just having good time with your companiens admiring the wonderful view.. The flat was well equippped. It was nice that some spices, washingstuff and other were left over, so that we did not need to buy it all. We liked very much to live so close to the beach, and had a lot of good restaurants to choose among when we were eating out. The flat itself was ok, but the bathrooms could have been more up to date if you shall call it a luxury apartment. Some more shelves had been good at one of the bathrooms. The hor water was not always cooperating. The sofas in the livingroom were soft and nice for us, but would be very difficult to rise from if you were a bit disabled. And the wifi never functioned.
