Description from owner
Hope Cottage is a beautiful 18th Century detached property in the hillside village of France Lynch in the South Cotswolds. Sitting in its own private south-facing garden, this romantic cottage has wonderful views across the valley, with excellent walking and plenty of interesting places to visit. The cottage is newly refurbished and combines period charm - oak beams and exposed stone walls - with modern conveniences. On sunny evenings nothing can beat sitting out in the garden, or watching the birds fly down the valley from the upstairs picture window in the large landing area, while downstairs the woodburner keeps the chill away on winter evenings. There is a great little pub at the end of the lane and numerous others within easy reach. The towns of Cirencester and Stroud - with its famous Farmers Market - are within a 15 minute drive, and other local attractions include the Rococo Gardens at Painswick, Prinknash Abbey, Westonbirt Arboretum, antique shopping in Tetbury, Slad Valley

Location description from owner
The Cotswolds region
The South Cotswolds is a well-kept secret - within a 45-minute drive of the better-known 'honeypot' Cotswolds towns of Stow on the Wold, Burford, Bibury and Moreton-in-the-Marsh, but without the tourist coaches and hordes of amateur photographers! This is a beautiful part of the world, full of hidden valleys and scenic countryside, with pretty little towns, charming villages, and a profusion of narrow lanes and dry stone walls. There are Farmers markets in Cirencester and Stroud, dozens of antique shops in Tetbury and olde world charm in Nailsworth and Painswick, all of which boast numerous excellent pubs, restaurants and cafes. In less than an hour you can also be in Bath, Bristol or Cheltenham to shop, eat or take in some city culture!
France Lynch is a hillside village between Stroud and Cirencester. It isn't on the way to anywhere, so it's quiet, self contained and the perfect spot to spend a restful or romantic break. There are some great walks direct from the door - many of which pass, or end up at, a good pub - and if walking seems too strenuous there is a great little pub just a few minutes away at the end of the lane.

Although we do have families visit our cottage, there is a mezzanine level with access via a steep staircase, and children should never be up there unattended or be allowed to run up and down the stairs. It is probably not suitable for very young children/toddlers.
We politely ask that guests keep noise to a minimum if they're outside at night.

“Cosy Cotswold cottage”
My husband and I had a peaceful, comfortable stay in this this lovely cosy cottage for a weekend in December. The cottage has heaps of charm: a picture window upstairs with a delightful view, a wonderful wood-burner, a comfortable bed and fully equipped for a relaxing stay. The owner, Sarah couldn't do enough to make our stay special. It's spotlessly clean, warm and pretty. Frankly, it was tough to leave. Recommended for a get-away-from-it-all break.
“Beautiful charming cottage with superb views”
Just returned from Hope cottage and it was all we expected it to be. Warm, clean, cosy with lots of character and superb views. Plenty of places to walk. The locals in the pubs were very welcoming, the Kings head 2 minuites walk away and the neighbourhood 10 mins walk (which is dog friendly). We didn't eat in them but the meals look lovely. We had a lovely Indian at the pavilion that we would recommend. Visited Cirencester and the market in Stroud just a short drive away. All in all a good chilled out break with lots of fresh air.
“Wow gorgeous cottage”
I would definitely recommend Hope cottage to my friends and family. It was warm and inviting, a true countryside get away with lovely trails and walks from the front door. The wood burning stove was great and the kitchen had everything we needed, the milk for our tea and cookies were a lovely welcome when we arrived. There is a cute little pub at the end of the lane and plenty of lovely villages nearby to visit. The views were amazing too. I hope to return to Hope cottage very soon!
“A little piece of heaven on earth”
A charming country cottage on the outside, but containing all the modern amenities we expect on the inside without losing its cosy welcoming feel. It was spotlessly clean and fully equipped with top of the range goods. The garden outside was secure and prettily planted and had the most amazing view. There was a welcome pack when we arrived and the owner was always at the end of the phone, friendly and helpful, whenever we needed assistance from making the original booking through to sourcing a spare key when we locked ourselves out!! We visited Westonbirt Arboretum and the Cotswold Water Park which would be ideal for children, but also had a separate swimming area for our dogs. Its very hard to tear yourself away from the garden though and for those who don't have such good weather as we did, the view can still be enjoyed through the picture window on the landing at the top of the stairs where a settee is conveniently placed. The WiFi was also much appreciated and we were able to send holiday snaps home as we took them!!
Lovely Cottage ,with magnificent views . Cottage was five stars with excellent facilities, very clean and spacious ,bed very comfy, quality linen,in a wonderful quiet setting with local pubs in easy walk . Plenty of delightful walks and discover the secret Cotswolds. Nice places to visit within easy reach of 15 minutes driving. Nice patio to sit and take in the views. Although on our visit the weather was mixed we found that our break was restful and very comfortable. Lots of thought by the owners to provide the home comforts and every day essentials and more .You would not be disappointed if you stay here. It was lovely also to be able to take our small dog Maisie on her first break away. HIghly Recommended . No Wifi as yet but 3G worked fine so there wasn't a problem.
