Location description from owner

The Aquitaine region

Nestled between the Bastide towns of Eymet and Castillonnes, Lalandusse is on the borders of the Dordogne and Lot et Garonne set in the midle of the medieval Bastide towns of Eymet, Castillonnes and Issegac. To the north is the Fairy tale castle of Monbazillac overlooking Bergerac, famous for its cuisine and wine, as appreciated by 'Cyrano de Bergerac'.

Castillonnes

The property is secluded in its own grounds with a 3 metre high hedge. Surrounded by farms and vineyards, but only 10 min to the local supermarket. There are no direct neighbours, the local village with its own bar / restaurant is set on a hill about 1 mile up the road. We are in the middle of the historic and beautiful Bastide county, with fortified towns and castles. The country side is a little like Devon except the main crops are sunflowers, walnuts, plum orchards and tobacco. All local towns have market days, and most have some special events throughout the summer, we supply books with all local events and activities from 'Parc en ciel' (Adventure park in the trees) to Castles and canoeing.

“Great place for everyone”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2014

We stayed at Grand Auque for a week in August with extended family of brothers, sister nieces, nephews (and their children) and friends. It is a fantastic group of buildings all well equipped for a leisurely stay even catering for that number was accommodated in the spaces available. Location is within easy reach of Bergerac and Bordeaux is a little further but with greater availability of flights. Of course located in this fantastic wine region means you've got to sample some but some things you've just got to bear - ho hum!!

“The place was perfect for our large family gathering, suitable for all ages and tastes.”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2012

We wanted to rent somewhere peaceful for a large family celebration, where we would have space to come together yet be quiet if necessary. Grand Augue more than fulfilled our expectations and the group of 30, from 3 continents and ranging in age from 1 - 67 years old, were all very happy. The four houses are interesting and quirky and well equipped, and the grounds large and maintained. We loved the pool, gardens, the games area and being able to eat en masse in the large kitchen or outside. Quieter members found plenty of corners to snuggle up with their book or sketch pad. Bob, the owner, was delightful to deal with and could not have been more helpful. The local area provided many small towns and villages to explore by car or bike and we loved the markets, shopping, eating and the vineyard especially.
