Description

(Legal permission of the government number ETV 368) Son Jorda, Campanet, Mallorca. Less than a 1 km from the centre of Campanet, this very private, fully air-conditioned villa is remarkable for the wonderful views of the Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains and the sublime way that natural materials and fabrics sit comfortably below the vastness of the mountain range. Set amidst 14,000 sq metres of olive, fig and almond groves, the house blends naturally into the rural landscape in satisfyingly minimalist fashion. From the sleepy square in Campanet a small lane winds downhill until two stone pillars herald the entrance to Son Jorda, where a driveway of some 200 metres, passes almond and olive trees before arriving at the villa's covered courtyardentrance. From the courtyard, furnishedfor summer dining with elegant table and chairs, tall wooden double doors open into an imposing hallway, with mellow terracotta tiled floors and wood beamed ceilings that are replicated throughout the house.

From the courtyard, furnishedfor summer dining with elegant table and chairs, tall wooden double doors open into an imposing hallway, with mellow terracotta tiled floors and wood beamed ceilings that are replicated throughout the house. Double doors lead into a spacious open plan living room, comfortably furnished with chairs and sofas arranged around a wood burning stove, and asturdy dining table and chairs, whilst French windows open out to the front. Another door leads to a second sitting room in the restored original barn with exposed stonewalls and huge open fireplace in one corner which also opens directly onto the courtyard. The immaculate fitted kitchen includes full cooker with gas hob and electric oven, dishwasher and microwave . There's a table and chairs for informal meals, and French windows lead out to a garden patio area where breakfast can be servedaccompanied bybirdsong and mountain views. The kitchen has a walk in pantry, plus adjoining utility room with washing machine. At first floor level and reached by a graceful tiled staircase are three attractive twin bedrooms, all with sloping beamed ceilings and sharing one full bathroom and a shower room. Two of the bedrooms have Frenchdoors to a terrace that runs along the front of the property and affords fabulous views of the mountains. The third bedroom has views over wooded hillsides plus access to a further peaceful terrace to the rear, overlooking the pool. On the ground floor is a beautifully furnished double bedroom and adjacent full bathroom. Outside the 10m x 5m pool, with requisite Palm tree, has roman steps into the shallow end and generous sun terraces. Finally, beyond the pool, the land slopes upwards to a small wild area of woodland, great for younger members of the family to explore. The beaches of the Bay of Pollenca are justa little over a 20 mins drive away. Palma is easily accessed by train from nearby Inca, a drive of about 10 mins, and incidentally known not only for its fine leatherworkshops but alsofor some excellentcellar restaurants. The lovely old town of Pollenca is a20 mins drive.Tennis courts are available in Campanet and the nearestGolf course is a 20 mins drive at Pollenca. The area is wonderful for walkers and cyclists and at the end of the day there is a good choice of excellent restaurants within easy reach. Campanet itself offersa few authentic tapas bars and a cafe serving light meals as well as a baker, minimarket and delicatessen. We feel that Son Jordaisreally is quite a special place, somewhere to switch off, recharge batteries and just enjoy the magic of your surroundings.

Location description from owner

The Balearic Islands region

Away from the island's bustling capital of Palma and the frenetic atmosphere of its nearby 'high rise' resorts, a startling change of pace and scenery takes over. Mediaeval monasteries and castles perch 'quixotically' atop pine clad mountains and look out over the azure sea that encircles the island's 400 km of beautiful coastline, most of which is surprisingly untouched by signs of mass tourism and remains virtually unknown to all but a few of Mallorca's many visitors.

Campanet

Situated on the edge of the green and wooded foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains, the sunny church square has a number of local bars and small shops and its a pleasant spot to linger over a morning coffee and croissant before heading off for the day.Fertile fields dotted with windmills turning lazily in the breeze, give way to rolling countryside covered in olive and almond groves punctuated by vineyards and small, sun-bleached villages.
