This sweet, traditional house on the northern waterfront of colourful Burano Island constitutes the perfect retreat from overcrowded Venice, while offering convenient public transport (water-buses) to both the City of the Doges and the beach (at Ca'Savio or at the Venice Lido) every half-hour. There is, however, already plenty to explore and do in Burano and the surrounding islands, including a grocery shop 150 meters away and excellent restaurants. Perhaps the most impressive is Torcello island and its' Basilica, gloriously and unobstructedly visible (with, on a clear day, the Alps in the background) across the laguna from, for instance, the kitchen door. But you will certainly also enjoy Burano, San Francisco del Deserto, or San Erasmo, just to name a few..and if you have time!!
The house retains the charm of its' last, and complete, renovation twenty years ago (next one scheduled in 2018), and is composed of a large ground floor (classical and functional kitchen, convertible sofa, dining table, bathroom with toilet, bidet, shower, sink and washing-machine), a first floor (double bed, large cupboard) with a view on the tiny adjoining fishing port, and an attic (single bed with an extra mattress in case of need) with a large roof-window and also a view towards Torcello. Please note that, while the house is, by design, mostly in the shade during the day, there is no air-conditionning and the attic can get warm. Thus the convertible sofa on the ground floor if need be. Linen and towels are supplied, there is a relatively reliable wifi (don't expect to stream Netflicks, though), and housekeeping is included. There are no television, dishwasher, or micro-wave, but a nice selection of my paintings on the walls largely, you will agree, make up for this!
Minimum stay is five nights, every effort will be made to accomodate special requests and to meet you at the boat.
