Looking for a romantic getaway? Come and relax in the Tuscan hills. This is a recently renovated, semi-detached (just 2 other apartments in the building) ground floor 1 bedroom apartment, just opened to the public.
Situated 5 to 10 minutes walk from the river's beautiful waterfalls, with its invitingly clear waters. The apartment is just 20 to 25 minutes (walking) from the centre of Bagnone, where you can find amazingly good value bars, restaurants, and shops.
We came for a weeks holiday and fell in love with the area immediately. Before we knew it, we were back to spend 7 months renovating this 200yr old apartment.

The Tuscany region
Both Pisa and Florence, with their famous tourist attractions are a short drive, as are the stunning seaside resorts of Le Cinque Terre and Lerici (we recommend going underneath the castle to find the breathtaking hidden beach there).
Close by, one can bathe in the river, an outdoor olympic size swimming pool in Villafranca or the natural hot springs of Equi Terme (where beauty treatments are also available). Visit spectacular castles in Fosdinovo; go shopping in Sarzana's famous outdoor antiques market; and for evening entertainment choose from Bagnone's theatre, outdoor cinema or bars.
A wealth of local sagras are to be found during the summer months, such as Bagnone's cake festival and the spectacular medieval festival in Filetto.
Skiing in Tuscany:
The season generally starts mid-to-late December and lasts until late March.
A number of ski resorts are less than an hours drive from the apartment, including: Cerreto, Prato Spilla, Zum Zeri and Abetone (which is slightly further).
As an example of prices, a Monday to Friday adult pass at Abetone's Val Di Luce resort costs just 65 euros and children's passes are only 42.50! Where other than the Appenines can you get on such good quality slopes for £6 to £10 a day?
One of Bagnone's bars serves fantastic hot chocolate, perfect for after a day on the slopes.
Walking, Biking and Hiking:
Bagnone is surrounded by spectacular scenery, offering romantic strolls or serious trekking through chestnut forests on ancient charcoal burners’ paths, or beside crystal clear mountain streams, racing down from the Appenines.
Close by The National Park of the Alpi Apuane offers a vast network of trails for walking, cycling and horse riding. This region is also known as the ‘parco cento laghi’, (one hundred lakes), all accessible on foot from the ski-lift station at Prato Spila (40 minutes away).
Tuscany is famously a haven for artists and enthusiastic amateurs. The nearest Golf course is located 10 minutes away in Villafranca (http://www.agrigolfvillafranca.it/). There are a couple of places closer than the parco cento laghi with horse riding facilities, please ask for details.

"Great little apartment."
Me and my girlfirend had a fantastic holiday at this place last year. Beautiful apartment, nice little villages to explore all around and we had perfect weather - we went in September. Very relaxing. It's easy enough to get to from Pisa airport and we didn't go too far from Bagnone most of the time. We went to Florence for a day trip which was nice, but we were happy to be away from loads of tourists. Loads of long walks and good food and I think they knew us by our first names at the local wine shop by the end of the holiday!!! : )

"It falls far short of description and photos-poor value for money"
The difficulties getting responses to our request for affirmation of booking, the rental agreement and how to access the property should have warned us that this was not up to letting standard.Bedding on a drying rack blocked the front door on entry. Electricity was limited to using one light and the fridge at any one time or the fuse tripped. We could not use the other appliances at all except one stove element on low only if we turned off the fridge, of course we had no hot water for showers etc. The corner of the house abutted the narrow road so cars tooted to pass.Getting our deposit back took months! We appreciated their pride in renovating this from its original state but it's unrealistic to consider it's ready for paying guests, most especially at the rates charged.
We were in the process of moving house when this booking was placed, which is why the responses and rental agreement were slow in getting there. The refund of the deposit was sent once by cheque and didn't arrive, so I sent it again. I did offer immediate refund via paypal. As regards the electricity shorting out, this was a fault of the electricity supplier, and we have rectified this. Guests can of course expect to have hot water without turning the fridge off! Had the guest who left this review let us know we would of course have given a full refund and found them alternative accommodation. We can assure guests that the apartment is fitted out to a very high standard and is in a superb location. We have a guest book full of glowing reviews and I hope this one won't put people off enjoying what is a great place to stay.

A cosy little cottage in the hills above Bagnone with breath taking views of the mountains from the bedroom window. Bagnone was very quaint traditional village with the locals communing at the local bar/cafes to sit relax and take in the world. The restaurants had amazing food and very cheap prices. The local wine was amazing and we even brought some home with us! Be prepared to bring your phrase book as not many people speak English but the locals are very helpful and welcoming. If you fancy cooking yourself there is a small local shop in the village with all the essentials or you can go to some of the bigger supermarkets in Aula. We had several day trips out to Florence, Lucca, La Spezia and many trips to the Cinque Terre seaside towns. The scenery was amazing and we explored several of the little hill towns in the local area. I would highly recommend the accommodation to anyone and we will definitely be back!
