Loads of outdoor sports in Alyth and immediate surrounds. Mountain bike routes directly from the house and built tracks, skills loop and pump track 200m from the house at Alyth Bike Park. World class angling on the Rivers Isla and Ericht and on the River Tay. Golfers are spoilt for choice with 3 courses within 5 miles, the oldest designed by old Tom Morris. There are a multitude of walking routes on Alyth Hill and Den of Alyth where you can spot abundant wildlife - red squirrels, deer, hares, stoats, buzzards, owls, red kites and an abundance of other birds regularly seen. For something more serious there are Munro's and Corbetts aplenty nearby in the Cairngorm National Park and Angus Glens. The Cateran long distance trail is on our doorstep. Plenty of space for storing gear and drying waterproofs - not that it rains much in Scotland anyway ; )

Guests are welcome to help on the farm feeding chickens, collecting eggs and gathering sheep. We breed Hebridean sheep which are pure black and full of character. Visit from mid April onwards to watch the hilarious antics of our new lambs.

“A Wonderful Get-Away-From-It-All Holiday Location”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2016

We were three generations of a family ranging from 57 to 5 months. It was an ideal spot for all - for the adults to relax and unwind and enjoy quality family time - and for our grandson who could play safely, feed chickens and look at sheep and other farm animals. We were only there for a long weekend but it felt like a lot longer - not because time dragged but it was so far removed from our usual city life that we relaxed very quickly and went home rested after a superb four days. We were blessed by exceptional weather for the time of year - literally four days of sunshine. The climb up the steep track is a bit bumpy but three different types of cars (none of them rugged off-roaders) made it up without problem and the steep climb is rewarded by one of the best features - the view - which is quite stunning. The house is large and well equipped - having everything you would need to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The only sounds and noise were made by ourselves - a really tranquil oasis and we hope to make it back for another stay.

Thanks for the great review Shonagh - hope we will see you again. We can book in the same weather if you like? Best Wishes, Marian and Simon
