“A memorable holiday” There were four young children in our party and so I was looking for a house with a hill top location, not far from Rome, where the the weather would be cooler as we were there in July. Casale Sonnino was perfect. There was a simmering breeze and enchanting gardens with shade. The beautiful historic house was spacious and had a well equipped kitchen. The dilemma was where to eat, out in the garden, in the large dining room or on the roof terrace. The roof terrace certainly won in the evenings where it was a delight to eat watching the amazing sunsets. The location proved to be excellent. Monte Porzio Catone was more than adequate for provisions, for us there was a bonus of a cafe with a children's play area so we could sit with a coffee overlooking stunning views. We also loved the other hill top towns especially Nemi. The local train station at Colle Mattia which is only 3 to 4 minutes in the car from the house took us into Rome in just 30 minutes for only 2 euros per adult! You do need to buy the train tickets in advance from a tabaccheria or from George as we did. It was a working farm and George had his office next to the kitchen which meant there were a lot of comings and goings but it also meant that George was on hand if needed. His knowledge of the area was impressive, he shared with us an excellent list of good restaurants. The other staff were cheery and friendly.Titziana and Giovanna cooked us a sumptuous welcome lunch and prepared our breakfasts each morning which was such a treat, not to mention doing our laundry. My grand daughter had her 5th birthday during our stay and without our knowledge the staff decorated the breakfast table with balloons and bubbles and a delicious birthday cake. The night before we left we treated ourselves to an evening meal cooked by the staff. It was a memorable meal, a fitting end to a memorable holiday .

“Yoga in Roman Villa” I am yoga teacher for 20 years and usually with the group of people from different countries I teach yoga in retreats of Italy. At the end of May 2009 with people of 8 we had incredible yoga experience in Villa Irina Marini. The place was so peaceful and luxury surrounding of particular design rooms, endless hospitality of the owner made this retreat unforgettable experience. The food was exceptional; the extra services were always available upon request. The fact that it is so close to Rome made our retreat not only spiritual and physical but also historical adventure of unforgettable memories. From now on we are going to do retreats on the regular basics in this Villa. This year we book for two separate weeks in June 12-26. You are welcome to join us.
