“Fabulous Villa in Poppi” My family and I stayed at La Casina from 23 – 30 May. There were 8 adults and 1 child and La Casina accommodated for us all.
The villa was beautiful and views stunning. Plenty of terraces to enjoy the view surrounding the villa, including seeing Poppi and the castle at the top of the hill lit up at night. The land is very well looked after and you will see Gigi every morning tending to the pool. The bedrooms are very comfortable and all were a good size.
The kitchen is charming; we all enjoyed gathering round to cook. We also enjoyed using the pizza oven which was a great experience. A chef from a local restaurant was arranged to show us how to prepare a traditional Tuscan meal, which was one of the highlights of our week.
The Tapinassi family were extremely helpful when our car broke down 30 minutes from the villa, they arranged a tow truck and a local garage to fix the car for our departure, we also received daily updates on the problems/fixing of the car. Thank you for all your help and letting us holiday in your villa.
“The facility, owner, view, town, location exceeded expectations.” We shared our vacation with ~20 friends and family at Fattoria Vecchia Quercia for a 2 week period early July 2013. We are all in agreement that this was one of the best vacation houses that anyone had every stayed. Francesca was the kindest hostess and her mother baked the most impressive and tasty desserts ever. The house was very clean and tidy and Francesca went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. Everything, from the coffee maker to the dishwasher and stove are top notch and the pool was fantastic. We raided the herb garden for every meal and the "wine cellar" was used extensively and kept our cases cool and available. Clean crisp sheets and towels, plentiful hot water and patio dining made our stay even more enjoyable. In fact we never had a meal at the inside dining table. Day trips to Florence, Sienna, La Verna, Arezzo and more were an easy drive but we returned every evening for our meal. Francesca recommended day trips, restaurants, grocery/wine stores and she even ordered a leg of wild boar from a local butcher that we stewed. The vacation occasion was our daughter getting her Masters in Enology and she brought some fellow wine making students on vacation. Francesca let us use the large dining room she uses for cooking classes/events for a wine tasting event that one of the grad students gave us. I've already recommended the facility to many friends and will continue to do so. It is rare when the facility was better than the on-line photos but this exceeded all expectations in every sense.
