“Beautiful villa, well equipped and in a beautiful area of France” Our trip was taken with 3 other couples from our Classic Car Club. It was my turn to organise the trip for this year, and I had the idea of renting a villa, which although we have holidayed together a couple of times before, we had always stayed in hotels to tour. The brief I had was that every couple wanted their own en suite, a private pool safe parking for our beloved jaguars and within a beautiful and interesting area of France. I can tell you that this is a tall order to fulfil! After hours of trawling the internet, I came across the Villa St Therese, and what a find that was!! The owner Rosemary Vine was so helpful and provided us with details of the house and of of the area. The best was yet to come, when we arrived at the house, it was far more impressive that we had imagined, and all of us were impressed with the setting, the quality of furnishings and with how well equipped the house was. Monpazier and the surrounding area is stunning. The only drawback was that the weather wasn't kind to us, but we had a great stay all the same.

“Lovely cottage in the heart of the Perigord gastronomic region” Les Cerisiers was a delightful cottage for two with access to a huge garden. We spent nearly 3 weeks here. It sits on an escarpment overlooking the Bastide village of Monpazier. The cottage was well equipped, and comfortable and it gave us a base for our exploration of this fascinating region. It is a region full of history, pre-history and gastronomic delights. We had access to the rest of the world through both British and French TV, but found little time to watch. We could keep in touch with family via WiFi. We would be delighted to return.

Gite Le Coeur restored medieval village townhouse
Perfect position.

Great position for town as well as day trips to so many other medieval villages. Really enjoyed out stay there. Having extra amenities (cling wrap, foil, oil etc) made for an easy time. Shops close by. Loved every minute. Thanks. … see more
BASTIDE 1353
The perfect way to experience France

Bastide 1353 is a great house in an amazing location. Monpazier and the surrounding area is a melting pot of French life, markets, history, great restaurants and squares too while away the day or people watch. The house is just a pleasure to come back too, loads of old characterful features and it has all the facilities you want, lovely furniture and beautiful pieces throughout the house to enjoy. There is a courtyard where we enjoyed breakfast, dinner and a few drinks with our friends. The top of my list were the beds, just so comfortable, best sleep for a long time. Bastide 1353 is only 50 metres away from the town square with its restaurants and bars which are full of life yet when back at the house it is nice and quiet. Absolutely recommend Bastide 1353! Les Couges
Gorgeous house in peaceful location

We have just had to reluctantly leave this wonderful house in a perfect rural location and although I have never written a review before, this time I can honestly say that we were so touched and impressed by this house and the surroundings that I wanted to thank the owner for creating such a lovely experience. The house is stylish and warm, very chic yet rustic, with so many little touches that made us feel welcome and at home. We were charmed by the house but the pool area and summer kitchen were just amazing. A stunning space, surrounded by lavender plants on one side and a view onto sunflower fields and distant woods on the other. ( There is also a rather plain looking barn, but you dont have to look that way!) Nothing disturbs the peace and quiet, and we spent many happy hours lounging, cooking lovely food from the nearby markets ( great gas range there, along with one of two huge fridges and two dishwashers), and sitting chatting late into the night with the sound of the crickets chirping. The nearby town of Monpazier is gorgeous, so pretty, and the first night we went to a jazz concert there. There was a market midweek, and the last morning an antique market. There was a market every day of the week in nearby pretty towns, and one night we went to the night market in Beaumont, which was a great knees up - we sat at long tables and ate and then danced in the square till past midnight. Unlike some parts of the Dordogne, this part feels authentically French, with locals not crowded out by expats. As tourists, we were made to feel very welcome and the people we encountered in shops, etc could not have been warmer. To return to the house for a moment! We went as a couple and had 2 friends and then a family of 3 visiting and staying - it was very roomy and perfect for us but I would say that ten adults in the house might be too many. There are two charming double bedrooms on the first floor, which share a lovely bathroom. On the top floor there is a kind of large, beamed, open space with a double bed, two child beds in a space through a doorway, and a shower room shared by these. Then over near the pool there is a little converted area which has a lovely double bedroom with stylish shower room, up quite a steep new staircase, and in the bottom area, another couple of child beds. Near here there is also the washer and drier which has another outside type loo. The pool has an alarm system fitted, which remained a bit of a mystery to us, but we coped ok, though we did get a few 'alarming' moments! Very good though to have it as its a safety feature if you have young children about, which we didn't. The house is in a little hamlet without shops, although a friendly neighbour popped by and said we could buy some eggs and veggies from the other neighbour. It's a five minute drive to Monpazier for bread etc - lovely artisan baker, and a real pleasure as its through lush woods along a quiet road with a real feeling of peace and quiet. Hope this review has been helpful and that if you go, you enjoy the experience as much as we did.see more
Cosy cottage all to yourselves: 700m walk to village, beautiful views, gardens
A charming home in a stunning part of France

Les Cerisiers is the sort of place I've always wanted to stay at. A charming stone cottage set amongst a private orchard, it is within easy walking distance of the walled town of Monpazier. From the minute one walks in there is a feeling of homeliness and comfort, and all the necessary things are there, plus many more thoughtful items. The beautifully equipped kitchen is great for cooking (with top quality knives!), the lounge has a cosy fireplace if needed, there is an outdoor garden setting for la pleine enjoyment (weather permitting), and the mezzannine bedroom, with lovely comfortable brass bed makes for a tranquil night's sleep. Rosemary was a terrific host to liaise with, always prompt in reply, and helpful in every regard. The coded key entry system worked easily, but my only words of warning are the finding of the actual street was a little fraught for us as French mapping and street naming seems to have more than one street with the same name. As long as you take the uphill track opposite the turn off to Villereal you should find it ok. Monpazier itself is a fantastic town; not overly commercialised or overrun by tourists (well, a few pass through in the day, but by night you almost feel like a local. ) There are plenty of terrific restaurants, excellent markets, and it is not too far to drive to many of the other exceptional places in the Dordogne/Perigord region.see more
Elegant villa: Big Pool, 700m walk to village, stunning views, lovely gardens
Perfect base for a family Easter holiday.

It's always a bit anxious until you actually see what it is that you have booked for your stay - then you arrive at Villa St. Therese with a huge sigh of relief that the property delivers all that is promised. The location of the house is perfect as a base to explore the village and the local area. Only a short drive from so many beautiful destinations - so many we couldn't possible fit it all in. The house itself is bursting with French country charm and is very well equipped for those big cooking sessions after a trip to one of the local markets. The village is a stones throw away so anything we needed was in easy reach - like a local wine to enjoy by the fire in the evenings. We are so pleased we decided on this property.see more
