“A wonderful week in Normandy” My wife and myself went to Normandy for her birthday as we had never been away for it. We stayed at Gite St Vigor at Le Calipel. Although we had stayed here before, this time was even better than the last, the Gite makes a terrific base for exploring the locality, and further afield if this takes your fancy. Visiting the local towns and villages is to be recommended as they still retain a lot of the "personal touch" unlike bigger cities. The gite itself is comfortable with one bedroom, a well appointed bathroom and kitchen/lounge diner with plenty of seating and an awesome log burner for those cold autumn and winter nights. There is a television, although we did not really use it as we played cards or read a book later in the evening. We would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone wishing to stay in Normandy. Vive Le Calipel!!!!!!

“Lovely Family Holiday” Just got back from a lovely holiday at Vie Facile. The gite is (for us) perfectly located. It's peaceful and private but not isolated. The gite is very spacious, and so is the outside space. Plenty to keep the kids entertained (swings, trampoline, heated pool). The surrounding area is very nice too. Mont Castre is just down the road and is well worth a visit. The nearest town is La Haye du Puits and we were able to get all our supplies from the supermarket there and at the market (Wednesday). If you want to go to the beach I would recommend Barneville-Carteret. If you park at the car park at the end of the Route de la Vielle Eglise you have the Cap de Carteret straight ahead, a huge non-touristy beach to the right and a more touristy beach to the left. We also wanted to go to Portbail but we ran out of time. When getting presents to take home go to La Masion du Biscuits, for you've guessed it, biscuits. The owners live on site (Joanne and Sharon) and they both friendly and helpful. We had a really good holiday at Vie Facile and it's somewhere we all want to holiday at again.

“Fully equipped, stunning location and 5 star hospitality” With a 2 year-old and our first family holiday away we searched for a self catering cottage that would accommodate our daughter first and foremost. Valerie and Albans Gite was fully equipped for a young child right down to books an toys and even a stroller! Stair gates on every staircase meant the safety for our daughter was paramount which made this place as stress free as it could have been (with a 2 year-old it's never going to be as relaxing as you hope!). Even the outdoor play area was perfect for little ones to have the best stay! And she loved the nosey chickens. Valerie also brought us over some fresh eggs from the chickens mid-week which was lovely. She was very helpful with recommending places to visit and even though the language was abit of a barrier, google translate was helpful and Valerie always had a smile on her face. Oh and the homemade jam, chocolates and bottle of cider was a welcome gift after a long day travelling! It certainly gave me a taste of the amazing Normandy ciders and I couldn't stop searching all week for more. With regards to the location, the Gite is only just over an hour drive from the Cherbourg ferry on very easy quiet roads and set in the most beautiful location overlooking the valley but also close to a local village for a butchers, minimart and patisserie. Also it is around an hour drive (give or take) to visit most things that you would want to see from DDay beaches and the stunning St Mont Michel. So location was perfect with the views to boot. I have already recommended Valerie and Albans Gite to friends and family and we most certainly will be back in the future. Thank you so much for having us Valerie and Alban x

“perfect cottage to relax” We have stayed here twice and can't wait to go again. It is perfect for relaxing. The cottage is so clean you would think you are the first guests to use it, and yet cosy with the most beautiful fire place. The garden is secure for young children or dogs. The English owners make you very welcome, starting with a delicious basket of provisions when you arrive. The wifi and English TV are an added bonus. The beaches nearby are stunning, we would particularly recommend Portbail. Normandy landing sites, Bayeaux and Caen all well worth the hours drive. For dog owners the local vet speaks perfect English, making the Pet Passport administration very easy.
