“The place was perfect for our large family gathering, suitable for all ages and tastes.” We wanted to rent somewhere peaceful for a large family celebration, where we would have space to come together yet be quiet if necessary. Grand Augue more than fulfilled our expectations and the group of 30, from 3 continents and ranging in age from 1 - 67 years old, were all very happy. The four houses are interesting and quirky and well equipped, and the grounds large and maintained. We loved the pool, gardens, the games area and being able to eat en masse in the large kitchen or outside. Quieter members found plenty of corners to snuggle up with their book or sketch pad.
Bob, the owner, was delightful to deal with and could not have been more helpful.
The local area provided many small towns and villages to explore by car or bike and we loved the markets, shopping, eating and the vineyard especially.
Grande Auque(13th Century Manoir Mill With Private Garden and 12mtr Heated Pool)
Great place for everyone
We stayed at Grand Auque for a week in August with extended family of brothers, sister nieces, nephews (and their children) and friends.
It is a fantastic group of buildings all well equipped for a leisurely stay even catering for that number was accommodated in the spaces available.
Location is within easy reach of Bergerac and Bordeaux is a little further but with greater availability of flights.
Of course located in this fantastic wine region means you've got to sample some but some things you've just got to bear - ho hum!! …
Fantastic house superb location - ideal for relaxing and sightseeing
Barbara and Alison Coad the owners of Grand Mauroux could not have been more helpful or accommodating on arrival. The House itself is superb with every amenity you could need and the rooms furnished to a high degree with hairdryers and power showers. The facility to make snacks, tea and coffee straight from the bedroom on the mezzanaine floor was great. The dining room and sitting room were just magnificent with plenty of room for 12 people-and with english tv if required. The kitchen facilities had everything you could need.
When visiting the area be sure to find out when the local markets are and make them a must - you will truly experience the french way of life. Within easy range are Bergerac and Bordeaux and for day trips dont miss the Lot and Garonne.
Came back feeling really refreshed and relaxed and will defintely return next year. …
