“A lovely property in a typical italian town.” This was a really spacious, typical Italian villa in a typical Italian town. My wife and I stayed for two weeks, and our daughter, son-in-law and baby spent one week with us: we were very comfortable and happy there. The only downside was that the property is on a very busy main road through the town, and it was extremely noisy at night:: the traffic noise went on until about 2/3 o'clock in the morning and then started up again by 6 am with people off to work, etc. We also had difficulty in finding somewhere close to the property to park, and with all the baby paraphernalia, it would have been easier to be able to park closer to the property. For the week we were on our own, we travelled on public transport, and had no problem with the trains and buses, all mostly ran on time, and were reasonably priced. The property would have excellent if in a quieter location.
I stayed in the top floor suite with my daughter, husband and sister for 4 nights. There was plenty of room for us and the really great outdoor space with the large deck was a particularly nice place to hang out. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean and nice. Since it is the top floor, three was a very airy feel to the flat, which was great. The only downside was the steep spiral staircase to get to the flat since it's so high up- but the view is well worth it! The flat was very much worth the price, the amenities which were all included, and the location in Sicily was central. Overall had the feel of a comfortable beach house.
The town of Casteldaccia was very welcoming, and there is an excellent pasticceria/cafe and fruit stand nearby, as well as several other places to buy food in a pinch (a market and rosticceria for ex.) - basically everything is within walking distance and the residents of the town are all very nice.
We rented a car and found the location great for exploring the northern part of Sicily, such as Segesta, Trapani, Cefalu, and a bit further out but well worth the drive, Mount Etna and Taormina.
Lastly, the owner was great with the initial arrangements and replying in a timely manner when we had questions. The manager, Allesandra was also very responsive and easy to deal with.
All in all we highly recommend this holiday flat. …
Our group of 13 stayed a week in Villa Silva and I was blown away with the service we received from Nilo, He met us to guide us to the vila and then went back out to track down a lost party and guide them back to the villa, he escorted us to the local shops so we knew where to go and greeted us with some local foods that was beyond our expectation. The villa was very well presented, very clean and very spacious, it was like a home from home, everything we needed was available to us. The children had plenty to entertain themselves with and there were plenty of sunbeds chairs and tables for us to pick and choose where we wanted to eat and spend our evenings in the well kept outside area. Nilo made himself available to us whenever we needed assistance with trains and what to see and do and gave us some great suggestions to do on our stay. Car hire is a must. Mosquitos were a nuisance, the area was lovely, very quiet and has beautiful views from the pool area across the sea. This villa was the best I have stayed in. Very Happy with our stay at Vila Silvia. …
