lovely apartment, excellent service and highly recommended
Lovely apartment as advertised with great and timely communication from the owner. There was a contact waiting to let us in and we spoke before we left to confirm. Even though we had to leave at 6am they were on time to see us out and we had no trouble checking in or out or with deposit.
The view was lovely and we thoroughly recommended going for a walk around the village to see the real sights as you can't see them from the road through. Cobbled alleyways and quintesential italian life is tucked away and at the end of the village is a small Lido. Parking was fine for our hire car but if it was any busier you might have to park a short distance. We were 15 minutes from Como and 5 from Argeno, 10 from Lenno where there is a supermarket and petrol station.
The pizza restaurant opposite was awesome with fantastic pizzas freshly made in front of you.
Internet worked fine and meant we found a place in Argegno to rent a boat for the day which we would definitely recommended to see the real sites. Head to Mennagio for a great market on Saturday, and Argegno also has a few lovely restaurants along with a fernacula railway for a few euros. After that we drove up into the hills for a good few km and came out right at the top for some immense views and a little alpine refuge for good food and a lunch time glass of vino.
We also highly recommend a cooking course we found with chef Moreno at Ristorante Il Caminetto (found via trip advisor). They collected us from Varenna port and took us back after a great day of cooking and local wine.
One thing to add, the bed is up on a mezzanine and probably not suitable for those less mobile but otherwise if you're looking for a quaint, quiet and characterful stay then this was great. Note the bell tower next to the property is active so expect a wake up call at 7 but all part of the character! Also, the shower was great with plenty of hot water on tap! …
