The Happy House is ready for wonderful memories to be made. The large, open kitchen, with granite countertops, is fully stocked to prepare a feast. The living room and dining room, with a kitchen counter with bar stools, makes a great space for everyone to be together. But with four bedrooms on one end of the house, a separate den, a huge gameroom, and a large patio you can choose privacy or togetherness. The large fenced back yard will make your pets happy, too!

The gameroom includes a small kids’ pool table, poker table, ping pong and foozball. It is perfect for family fun. You can play corn hole, croquette or horse shoes, too.

The pool is closed.

The large pool (it’s 20’ by 40’!) (with *two* water slides!) does need to be replastered but the water is crystal clear and completely sanitary, and I told the guests it was safe to swim in. There is a pool company just down the road that tests the water for me, besides me using test strips, and the chlorine level, pH, alkalinity and everything else was tested daily and always within the proper range. It is an old concrete pool and is pitted and stained on the sides but I’m not going be resurfacing it anytime soon. It’s still lovely to swim in. I especially recommend quiet night swims, with the pool light on. Check-in time is 4pm. I reminded the guests the house would not be ready until then, yet they still arrived hours before the scheduled check-in time. (I let them stay anyway.) I frequently have back-to-back bookings, so early check-ins can’t happen, but I always send a text to the next guests if the Happy House will be ready early. I got back from an extended trip to Japan (to meet my first grandchild(!!), born to my son, stationed in Okinawa, and his wife) with several days to get the Happy House ready for the next guests. The house was cleaned before I left, but we had a booking while I was gone. The poor happy house was a mess, though, and besides having a broken microwave that needed to be replaced, did, indeed, have bugs. I immediately called the exterminator who came and sprayed inside and out. I’ve had him come back out again to insure the problem is gone. I regret not telling the guests I’d found the problem and that the bug man had come out and that I was sorry, but I was sure they would see dead and dying bugs. I didn’t do that and of course, that was a mistake. I saw the guests daily, as I checked on the pool every day, and would’ve had the exterminator come again while they were there had they mentioned the issue. There is no poison ivy in the yard, and never has been. (Leaves of three, let them be. Leaves of five, let them thrive.) The game room features a ping pong table, fooz ball table, poker table and a small pool table (the felt is not torn) , as well as storing corn hole, horse shoes and croquette to play outside. None of it is fancy, but it’s still fun. Pictures are online. The house looks *exactly* like the pictures online. It’s got the same furniture, lamps, everything, except I swapped out some bedspreads. I certainly don’t want my guests to be disappointed, and want it to be as expected. It will be. I have taken some new photos with a wide angle lens and will be adding those to the photos already online. The north side of the house does need to be pressure washed, as green algae or mold does tend to grow on the shaded side of houses down here. The north side of the pool fence could also do with a pressure washing, and it’ll be done sometime soon, but it’s not harmful in any way. I stayed two nights this past week at the Happy House. The water pressure is fine and I thankfully saw no bugs. And did I mention night swims with the pool light on are really lovely? I take great pride in playing a big part in people’s family reunions and vacations and the memories they make, and have had guests return year after year after year. It truly is a happy house and I’d like to keep it that way. I’m sorry you had a bad experience, but I hope you’ll give us another chance. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Why can't I call Joni (the owner) before booking?

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Joni (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
