About this location
The East Anglia region
Norfolk is a fantastic county of big skies, seemingly endless beaches and peaceful meandering waterways. It is home to a variety of attractions whether it's the royal residence at Sandringham, the fantastic Blakeney National Nature Reserve where you can take a boat trip to see the nearby seal colony, the fine city of Norwich with its magnificent cathedral and the fascinating Norwich Castle Museum or the seaside towns of Sheringham, Cromer and Great Yarmouth. However, if you just want to "get away from it all" Norfolk is the perfect place. The gently undulating landscape makes walking and cycling a joy, whether you choose the beautiful countryside, the fantastic forests or the unspoilt coast. Norfolk has a lovely climate and is one of the driest and sunniest counties in the UK, enabling plenty of opportunities for enjoying stunning dawns and sunsets. Norfolk is justifiably proud of its seasonal food and drink with many culinary festivals planned, enabling you to sample local delights. However you choose to spend your time in this wonderful corner of Britain, we feel sure you'll return home relaxed, inspired and just a little bit in love with Norfolk.
Enjoy a relaxing holiday in this beautiful, peaceful region. The town of Wroxham is the historical heart of recreational boating on The Broads offering all the amenities that make a perfect holiday. The town centre is less than a five minute walk from the cottage, across Wroxham Bridge and offers a range of restaurants and shops. Hire a day boat in town and explore down river towards Wroxham Broad and Horning, admiring the beautiful waterside properties along the way. Or perhaps you would prefer the pretty, meandering, tree lined river heading up towards Coltishall with a stop at a riverside pub for lunch? If handling a boat yourself isn't your style then enjoy a scenic river trip on one of the Broads Tours boats, departing from the marina directly in front of the cottage. Back on dry land, the scenic narrow gauge Bure Valley Railway departs from Wroxham to enable you to enjoy a ride to the ancient market town of Aylsham. From here you can choose to paddle, cycle or walk back to Wroxham or simply take the train back again after enjoying the delights of Aylsham. Bike hire, horse riding and golf are all available nearby while the beautiful beaches of Norfolk's coastline are only 12 miles away. Alternatively, the fine city of Norwich is even closer, only 8 miles away. You really have got the best of all worlds at Yare Cottage, tranquility, yet with the facilities of Wroxham a short walk away, activities, sightseeing and the beauty of the Norfolk Broads literally on your doorstep. If you enjoy fishing you can explore the many rivers and Broads either from the riverbank or by hiring a day boat. Alternatively, make the most of the private fishing rights available from the banks of the Peninsula Marina; you can even dip a line in from the comfort of the cottage's secluded decking area!
