The Island of Gozo region
Gozo is the second largest island of the Maltese Archipelago that consists of three islands known as Gozo, comino and mainland Malta.
Roughly circular in shape, 14km by 7km in area, Gozo is hilly and from the south-west to the north-west, the coast is entirely surrounded by cliffs. The hills of Gozo are curiously rounded and flat-topped, the result of hard rock lying on top of softer rock.
The Maltese Islands are situated in the centre of the Mediterranean - 93 km south of Italy and 290 km north of North Africa. Gozo lies about 5 km in the North West of Malta and the distance between Ċirkewwa in Malta and Mgarr Harbour in Gozo, involves a 25 minute ferry crossing. It therefore enjoys warm summers and mild winters and this makes it the ideal holiday destination at any time of the year.
Victoria, Gozo area
Victoria is the capital town of the island of Gozo. The name Victoria, locally known as Rabat, was given to the medieval town of Gozo in 1887 in honour of the famous British Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations. At the same instance, the town was also raised to the status of a city; then officially known as Citta' Victoria.
The town of Victoria embraces both the Citadel, the ancient city of the Island, as well as Rabat, the old suburb of the Citadel. There are many places of historical and cultural interest in Victoria and a visit to the Citadel is considered a must. From these fortifications one can enjoy a superb view of the whole Island. Also within the Citadel there is the Gozo Cathedral and the Law Courts, as well as the Cathedral Museum, the Gozo Museum of Archaeology, the Folklore Museum, theCitadel Armoury, the Folklore Museum, the Old Prison, and the Natural Science Museum.
The centre of the capital city of Gozo is Pjazza Indipendenza, known as it-Tokk. In the mornings, there is an open market that shares the square with several open air cafes. The magnificent St.George's Basilica is located in the centre of the old town, just off the open air market in Pjazza Indipendenza. The cobweb of narrow streets around St. George's Basilica are the oldest in town and are worth a walkaround.
In Triq ir-Repubblika (Republic Street), Victoria's main street, there are all kinds of shops, a couple of shopping arcades, pharmacies, banks, the Police Headquarters, the Bishop's Chancery, as well as La Stella and Leone Band Clubs who own the Astra and Aurora opera theatres respectively. In lower Republic Street, one also finds Villa Rundle Public Gardens which were laid out by the British in 1910. These gardens, with a variety of local and imported trees and a fountain, are an oasis of peace in the hustle and bustle of the busy town. Close to the crossroads is Victoria's main parking area and the Bus Terminus.
During February Gozo Carnival is held in Victoria. On the 3rd week of July there is the feast of St George and on 15 th August the feast of St Mary.
Within walking distance from farmhouse there is a choice of two restaurants.

Guestbook for Victoria Holiday House Rental
Carolyn-We really enjoyed our holiday on Gozo. The accommodation was so spacious, your photos did not do it justice. We had lots of room, it was clean and well equipped. The pool was lovely!
Daniel-Lovely villa with everything we needed, good central location and near to amenities while still being away from itall. Tabea-we came home very happy after our holiday on Gozo. The best of your farmhouse was the big pool! The children were living in it. We enjoyed the holiday every day since the first moment in this house. Thank you for the very friendly welcome!
Mark anLene-We had an absolutely fantastic holiday, partly cause of your great house and partly because of Gozo itself. We can understand why you are all proud of your island, a little gem with a massive history. We've told everyone here in Denmark what a great place Malta is especially Gozo with its kind and warm people.
