The Argyll and Bute region
With diverse scenery from mountains, glens and ancient woodlands to fresh water and sea lochs, there is a wide range of sporting and leisure past-times which can be enjoyed in the area.
If a more relaxing pace is desired, just touring around enjoying the dramatic and unique scenery is a great way to experience Argyll which has a huge number of places to visit, from small villages to castles and a wide selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants where fresh local produce can be enjoyed. For day trips, within easy reach are Loch Lomond, Oban, Glen Coe and Fort William. Closer by are Inveraray and Tignabruich.
This part of the west coast has an abundance of lochs both sea and fresh water, for fishing, sailing and boating, rivers for canoeists and hills and mountains for walkers and climbers. Golfers are spoilt for choice with many courses within easy reach.
If you prefer closer to home, there are mountain bikes at the Lodge and you could take an easy 10/15 minute cycle along to Inver Cottage restaurant for lunch or dinner, or cycle on round to Newton, an old and very pretty small fishing village where private boat hire can be arranged if you just have to get out on the water! There is also a great deal of wildlife to see around the Lodge from red deer, grouse, pheasant and different hawks including eagles.
In the heart of Argyll, one of the most picturesque parts of the West Highlands surrounded by mountains and forest, nestling on the side of Loch Fyne, Strathlachan is a tiny hamlet of five cottages reached by a single track road. If you are looking for a holiday location that has luxurious rustic accommodation, set amongst some of the best of spectacular Scottish scenery, in a completely tranquil and restful setting, a world away from stress and bustle but still close to amenities, Strathlachlan Lodge is the perfect comforting hideaway and one of the very few places that really will match your expectations of how a holiday in Scotland should really be.The local village is Strachur which has a shop/tea room the Clachan pub and the famous Creggins Inn which has a great bar and restaurant. Also 2 miles away is Invercottage seafood restaurant and 20mins drive will take you to the original Loch Fyne Oyster Bar outside Inverary.
