Yorkshire Dales at its best. The Healthy Home sleeps 17 and is a beautiful haven for family gatherings, birthdays, business getaways or Yoga Retreats. A perfect celebration venue with breathtaking views, cosy spaces & private sheltered terraces. Minutes from Skipton. Featured on TV.

The house is a collection of three buildings that work well to offer many spaces to be together and have retreat and privacy (6 reception rooms and 2 kitchens, one with log fire). This is an ideal place for multi-generations or three families to holiday together with parents and children in each of the three buildings: The New Building, the Barn and the Cottage form one house. The house is a product of loving design and attention to detail, curving surfaces and all natural materials including wood, marble and natural eco paints. The sensitive renovation & building work inspired a best-selling book called The Healthy Home. People visiting from the city often find they sleep unexpectedly deeply, feeling rested and rejuvenated. The house has been filmed by BBC TV and Channel 4 News and Yorkshire Television have broadcast their Calendar evening news programme live from the house.

The 750 year old original cottage was extended in 1997 by conversion of the barn and then in 2004 the stunning extension was added with its 2-storey high 2 metre wide windows, offering a twenty mile view over the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. A beautiful conservatory built out into the private woodland overlooks the breathtaking panorama.

Two private terraces offer magnificent views and the garden is a nature haven with a small field and woodland behind and a protected hillside wild garden in front. Organically cultivated for the 50 years we have owned it, the garden is quite a nature sanctuary…. we've counted 30 species of birds. The nature garden also features a pond often visited by Mallard ducks, pigeons, doves, herons and even peacocks. Our Pear Tree is visited by partridges too!

We have two fully fitted kitchens, one of which is located in the Panorama Penthouse Suite on the 1st floor with stunning views, its own lounge area attached and next door double bedroom and bathroom.

Special Notes:

Our location in a hillside with steps between buildings which means we are not suitable for people with limited walking ability. We do not accept any pets as that helps keep the house pet allergen- free.

PLEASE NOTE: **** The minimum stay advised for most weekends is three nights not two. A 3-night stay is much better value. Two nights effectively give you just an evening and one day in this huge property of 20 rooms and most guests say they wish they had booked longer stays.

Everything you need to support you in creating a great house party weekend, vacation week or retreat programme. Prior to arrival, guests will also have telephone interaction, and will be personally welcomed to the property on arrival and given a tour of the house. Local support is available whilst guests are at the property if required for questions, queries and general information. How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Gina Lazenby (the owner) a message.

If Gina Lazenby (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
