Northern England region

Skipton is known as The Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. The Yorkshire Dales National Park covers an area of 1769 square kilometres amidst the Pennines in the North of England.

Malham Cove, Bolton Abbey, Aysgarth Falls, Ribblehead Viaduct are day trips that you need to take to sign the highlights of the Yorkshire Dales.

The outstanding landscape of one of the finest upland areas of Britain, the wildlife and cultural heritage of the region have made the Yorkshire Dales a favourite Tourist destination for many generations.

The market town of Skipton (originally called Sheep Town) is known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales.

It is a delightful place to visit at any time of the year and makes an ideal base for visiting the Yorkshire Dales, Bronte Country or even the Lake District. Skiptons unique appeal is a result of its ancient history combined with the hustle and bustle of a living market town.

Skipton is twinned Simbach-am-Inn in Germany. The charters were signed in Simbach in 1982 and in Skipton in 1983. Simbach is a small town in Bavaria which is very picturesque and has much in common with Skipton.

"Nice Cottage"

Spent a week here in rainy February with my wife and dogs and we loved it. Only five minutes walk into town down the main road or five minutes to Morrisons Supermarket over the canal. Kitchen well equipped but small. The washing machine came in handy since some of the walks we did where rather muddy. A tumble dryer and freezer was located in a out building through a small but secure back yard. Large bedroom with plenty of wardrobe space and a comfy bed. Even though it was at the front of the cottage we heard no traffic noise. Stairs to the 1st level are steep but caused us no problems. The only down side was the large bathroom, it only had a small bath with no proper shower. Even though it was cold in February the cottage was warm, we even had to turn the heating down. Overall a nice cottage which we would recommend, and it certain did.

Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, despite the weather.A full bathroom refurbishment is planned for March 2014 including the installation of a shower.Updated bathroom photos will be put on our website and Holiday Lettings once the refurbishment is completed.
