A small one bedroom cottage converted from a stable situated in the heart of Sedbergh. It is a few minutes' walk from the local pubs, restaurants, bookshops and amenities and five minutes' walk from Sedbergh School. Ideal for visiting Sedbergh or as a base for exploring the Howgills, the Lake District and the Dales.
Single room downstairs with living area to the front and a fitted kitchen area to the rear with under-stair storage space. TV, video and DVD player in the living area. Central heating throughout. Upstairs, the bathroom has a bath and overhead shower. A clothes airer is available (useful for drying walking gear).

The single room downstairs acts as the living area to the front and has a fitted kitchen area to the rear with under stair storage space.
A small dining area is situated between the kitchen and living areas. In the living area there is a Freeview enabled TV, video player (VCR), DVD player and a well loved Trivial Pursuit game! There is a 2 seater sofa and armchair placed by the side of a small, but warm electric fire.
Upstairs, the bathroom has a bath with overhead shower, and a toilet. Towels are provided.
In the bedroom is a double bed, chest of drawers and closet with hanging space.
There is a Vaillant combi-boiler in a small cupboard between the bedroom and the bathroom.

The front door opens on to the street. Cars may be temporarily parked outside the front door for loading and unloading purposes, but there is a car park a minute's drive down the road on Loftus Hill (pay and display) or free on street parking round the corner in Back Lane, two minutes' drive away.
There is also a large pay and display car park on Joss Lane, three minutes' drive away.
There is no garden attached to the property, though the cottage is situated a couple of minutes' walk away from a lovely public field, popular with dog walkers. Not far away from the cottage you are offered the opportunity to walk along the river Rawthey or stride off up Winder, the hill overlooking the village.
Dogs only by prior arrangement with the owners. No cats or other animals.
Under no circumstances is smoking allowed in the property.

The Cumbria/Lake District
Sedbergh is situated at the foot of the Howgill Fells and close to the Dales and is approximately 10miles from Kendal, the gateway to the central and southern Lake District.
All three areas are well known as places of outstanding natural beauty and are ideal for walking at all levels and for all ages.
The M6 motorway is also a 15 minutes' drive away, allowing access north towards Carlisle and Scotland and south towards Manchester and Liverpool.
The weather is typically English and can change quickly so what can start off as a dull day can end as one of glorious sunshine.
Sedbergh is a small Dales town with pubs, shops and restaurants and a thriving local community.
It is also England's first Book Town, hosting an increasing number of general and specialist book shops, in addition to being well-known as a base for walkers, cyclists and ramblers interested in exploring the Howgills, the Dales and the Lake District.
Details of the many attractions, festivals and events held in the area can be found at www.sedbergh.org.uk, or by visiting the the Sedbergh Information Centre on Main Street.
The Spar shop has now moved and is located in the old meat market on Station Road which is a 5 minute walk from Sedbergh centre in the direction of Kendal. There is ample parking, however, should you wish to drive. It is also significantly larger that when it was located on Main Street.
The Health Centre has also moved, should you be in need of a doctor during your stay, and it is now located next to the new Spar on Station Road. Accessible on foot or by car.

"A great location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales"
The house is compact and well located within the village of Sedbergh. Entry and exit are right onto the narrow street so car parking in another area has to be found, either pay and display or a lucky spot elsewhere. The owner was helpful in this regard. The main drawback for a longer stay eg a week or more is the lack of clothes washing facilities and this, as well as a few minor issues regarding kitchen supplies has been relayed to the owner. The village is delightful and has a large boarding school with sporting areas as well as a gourmet butcher/deli just two doors up.A small supermarket and fruit shop as well as a couple of pubs and markets make for a pleasant stay.
