The Amalfi Coast, Italy
The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful 50 kilometres' stretch of mountainous coastline situated between the Sorrento peninsula and Salerno, just south of Naples, in the region of Campania.
The coastline is dotted with small picturesque villages and towns stacked precariously on steep rocky cliffs plunging into the Mediterranean Sea.
The famous islands of Capri and Ischia are nearby, both of stunning natural beauty.
The Amalfi Coast has been one of Italy's major tourist attractions for decades. It is regarded by many as one of the world's most beautiful stretches of coast.
Today tourism is the main industry, and the area has numerous luxury hotels and a wide selection of restaurants, bars, craft shops, boutiques, boat trips, and more.
For those who like to drive, one of the highlights of a trip to this area is the romantic coastal road itself.
The narrow serpentine road clings to the coastal cliffs, soaring and plunging and winding around the towering cliffs that fall sheer into the sea. By car or bus, this road offers dramatic and breathtaking scenery.
At some places it is so narrow that two vehicles can hardly pass and have to back up to yield way to each other. National Geographic says of the Amalfi Coast:
"The coastline around Amalfi is quite simply breathtaking. Cliffs plunge steeply into the azure sea with picturesque villages perched on their rocky sides, some of which until recently, were only accessible by boat. The views out across the Mediterranean Sea are stunning and this piece of coastline can quite rightly justify its claim to be one of the most scenic stretches in the world.” (National Geographic)
Positano is known as one of the most beautiful jewels of the Amalfi Coast.
Positano was a relatively poor fishing village during the first half of the 20th century.
It began to attract large numbers of tourists in the 1950s, especially after John Steinbeck published his essay about Positano in Harper's Bazaar in May, 1953.
"Positano bites deep", Steinbeck wrote. "It is a dream place that isn't quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone." Its enchanting position, the beautiful houses and narrow streets exude Mediterranean harmony and charm. Beloved by artists from everywhere, it has enchanting views, shopping and strolls by the sea. Its wonderful boutiques have made Positano fashion internationally renowned.
airs on the beaches.

"Perfect for Our Family"
We traveled with our three adult sons and their wives and two young grandchildren. The two levels, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms gave everyone the space they needed. Both kitchens were fully equipped, but since we were so close to several excellent restaurants, we chose to dine out and enjoy the delicious food of the region. The terraces of the villa, with beautiful views of the town clinging to the hillside above us and the coast and sea below, provided an excellent gathering place for our family to enjoy coffee in the morning and local wine in the evening. Lagniappe for us and our two year-old grandson was the wonderful playground across the road and down a few steps...a great place to take him to run and climb after a day of sightseeing. Gaetano, our host, accommodated us by arranging tours, making dinner reservations, and meeting our bus when we arrived. He and his family live upstairs on the top level, and he is readily available if needed.

I'm confused Laura, this is what you have written the June 15 2013 (review), on HouseTrip where you made your reservation.
In addition, I have the page of our guestbook , where you have written nice words on my property, on me and my family.
I believe that you should not be the same person.
We enjoyed our stay in Positano very much! We were a party of 8 so we used both apartments. The upstairs apartment had plenty of sleeping space but could use a little freshening up. The downstairs apartment "Mare" was very nice and cozy with two nice bedrooms (the bed spreads could be updated), a very accommodating kitchen and sitting area and a private outside sitting area - the real view was from the upstairs patio. The location was appealing to us, away from the busy tourist area down below. We really felt like we were living amongst the community and enjoyed watching the school children come and go. There were plenty of wonderful views in the neighbourhood and many shops and restaurants. All in all, it was a fabulous trip!
