The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region
Pembrokeshire is a great area to visit. It has supberb coastal walkways, super beaches, places of historical interest, castles, and the smallest city in the UK, St Davids. It boasts 170 miles of coastlines, which include numerous beaches and bays as well as important bird breeding sites.
Elsewhere, the county is mostly flat and used for lowland farming.
Freshwater East is ideal for families, couples and people who want a relaxing holiday. Throughout the area there are water sports, golf courses, children's theme parks and many festivals throughout the summer to enjoy. Freshwater East is a small village overlooking Freshwater East Bay, it also has a local nature reserve called the Burrows. There is a Pub in the village serving meals at lunch times and evenings, which is a 5 minute walk away from Portclew Cottage.

"Hard to beat!"

"Lovely cottage at a great location"
We were greeted on arrival by the owner who made us most welcome with a tray of tea and Welsh cakes.
The cottage was well-equiped and furnished, had a light modern feel and was immaculately clean. The lounge area had a large window and patio doors which provided an always changing glimse of the sea. This led onto a decked area which, in the right weather, provided the perfect place for breakfast al fresco.
We found the cottage a good base to explore some of the best beaches in Britain - this was a real eye opener and must be one of Wales's best kept secrets.
Finally we recommend trying the local pubs for really good, locally aquired food.
