About the home

Both cottages have their own fenced in garden with patio furniture for al fresco dining. The property abounds with wildlife, Squirrels, rabbits, foxes and deer to name a few plus a countless variety of birds (A bird watchers paradise!) A few yards from the cottage is the pool house with heated pool and 7 person Jacuzzi/hot tub which guests have private use of. Both cottages have sky sports and movies.
The six- section purpose built pool-house telescopes into one section at the touch of a button so that in fine weather it can become open air.The property lies at the end of a private lane in the beautiful Wensum Valley, officially designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty, an excellent totally peaceful location from which to explore Norfolk. Pensthorpe (as seen on BBC's springwatch) a short ride away. Outback australian theme resturant nearby in Ringland.

The Cottages are adjacent to the Taverham mill Fishing Lakes. Situated by an old weir and mill pool on the River Wensum Anglian Water's four lakes and stretch of the river at Taverham is set amidst one of the East of England's natural beauty spots and offers some of the finest specimen fishing in the area. These are challenging waters to fish and with Carp weighing in excess of 35lb and Tench over 9lb, Taverham Mill Lake is set deep within a 100 acre Nature Reserve providing an ever increasing and didverse habitat for all manner of wildlife, Badgers, Muntjak & Roe deer, Otters and an abundence of birdlife which often spill over into our 4 acre garden, so pull on your walking boots come and enjoy this wonderful setting. Nature Reserve permits & fishing tickets can be purchased at the tackle shop, also fresh bait & tackle. Ball games can be played in the main garden, badminton, cricket, football also ideal for flying model planes.

THE POOL IS CLOSED NOVEMBER TO APRIL HOT-TUB IS AVAILABLE ALL YEAR.
Time slots are allocated to both cottages e.g.Spring to Autumn 08:30-10:30, 10:30-12:30, 15:00-17:00, 17:00 - 19:00 which vary for each cottage daily. These only apply if both cottages booked by different parties. Pool house is only open in daylight hours.
Towels are not provided.
No smoking allowed inside of cottage

The East Anglia / Norfolk region

About 30 minutes to the south you can stroll through enchanting Forest of Thetford teaming with wildlife and countless varieties of birds. To the east and North are some of the loveliest dune-lined sandy beaches in England. Ten minutes to the north is the historic market town of Aylsham with it's famous Steam Railway on which you can enjoy lunch whilst taking in the beautiful Norfolk countryside on route to coast or broad in the elegant style of a bygone age.

Bewilderwood the curious treehouse adventure, zip wires, jungle bridges, yummy food and mysterious marsh walks you will find between Wroxham and Horning on the A1062. Banham Zoo at Attlebridge.

The Norwich / Old Costessey area

Old Costessey is a picturesque village about 4 miles from the Cathedral city of Norwich, the principal shopping and entertainment centre of East Anglia. Just a short twenty minute drive to the east are the beautiful Norfolk Broads where boats can be hired for day trips to explore the magical landscape of reed-lined waterways, windmills and nature reserves.
Pensthorpe, known for hosting the BBC Springwatch show, is home to a variety of birds from ducks,lapwings and rare Red Crowned cranes. Now you can also find red squirrels, gardens, flower meadow, he wow activity booklet, the wildlife tracker trail, the landrover Wensum discovery tour, bird feeding and pond dipping.Dinosaur Adventure enjoy beautiful woodland and discover dinosaurs includes a great dinosaur trail, climb-a-saurus, adventure play area, raptor races, lost world adventure, crazy golf, Dippy's diner and the secret animal garden. Animal Ark set in 20 acres you will find farm animals, wildlife and adventure play, there are cattle, goats, pigs, donkeys, llamas to meet, plus animals to stroke in the Pet pavilion and keeper talks, meet parakeets, waterfowl, heron colony, play on the slides, swings, climbing wall and 50metre zip wire. Alysham show set in the picturesque parkland of the national Trust's Blickling Park. The 65th Aylsham Show takes place on the August bank holiday Monday. 5 minutes by car Tast of Oz restaurant in Ringland by the river.

At the end of a hectic day exploring Norfolk's myriad of delights, just relax by the pool or unwind in the Jacuzzi and watch the sun go down over the mystical Wensum Valley.

“Perfect relaxing wildlife watching holiday in comfortable cottage with pool” We have stayed here several times over the last few years and have never been disappointed. Chrissy and Keith - along with their adorable cocker spaniels Cassie and Benji - are the perfect hosts who know that we love to relax and just watch the local wildlife which visits the garden and they even put up bird feeders for us. We saw twenty four species of woodiand and garden birds as well as squirrels, rabbits, muntjac and roe deer from the comfort of the lounge sofas. The pool and hot tub are a lovely addition to a really relaxing holiday. There is a lot to do in this area but it is difficult to tear yourself away from this place.

“Great property, very friendly and helpful owners” This is a great property, in an ideal location for Norwich and surrounding area. The property is clean and well equipped and has sky TV which is a real bonus!! The pool and hot tub are also lovely. We loved watching the deer in the garden as well. The owners are very friendly and really helpful with any queries. The property is on 1 level and you can drive up to the front door so is ideal for elderly and families with small children.

“Lots of lovely and varied places to see very close by but then a lovely quiet haven to come back and relax in, perfect.” I think the only drawback with this holiday let is that you have to drive everywhere, so you can't nip out in the evening for a bar meal and share a bottle of wine. However, the place is so lovely with your own little secluded garden that that wasn't too much of a problem. Loved having the pool and hot tub to relax in all to yourself. Lots of lovely places to see within easy driving distance. I think a sat nav is very useful as there are so many little country lanes and we never really did get our bearings. Lovely get away from it all kind of holiday. Response: There are lots of places to eat close by and good value, cavery mon-fri £4.99 at the Red Lion in Drayton or The Cock in Drayton where 2 can eat for £20 they also have a kids menu only takes 8mins in car door to door. Both pubs have gardens. Or the 'Out Back' in nearby Ringland Australian theme nicely situated oposite the river.

If there has been damage to the cottage or its contents, keys having to be replaced or the cottage has not been left in a reasonable condition, an appropriate refund or invoice, will be sent to you.

We expect the cottage to be left reasonable clean and tidy. Please replace any small breakages with new items as close as possible in appearance to the original.
