Allison's Cottage is a charming, very relaxing and quality rural country retreat, near Newent, in rural Gloucestershire. The cottage is surrounded by fields and provides an ideal get away location to wind down, recharge your batteries or use as the ideal rural base for holiday adventures. For those that need to work an office desk and internet supply in the side annex of the cottage.

The cottage has been extensively restored to a high standard and mixes the best of old and new facilities. At night time experience dark skies and watch the stars pass over with a G&T or snuggle down with a book infront of the log burner fire.

With shorter Autumn and Winter days there are lots of local woodland walks, including Dymock Woods, Symonds Yat, Newent and Westonbirt Arboretum - all within 30 minutes drive or less.

With a large garden and grass fields around there is ample space to chill out, read, paint, play a game of frisbee golf or badminton in Spring and Summer or simple sit by the pond or under an old pear tree and observe wildlife and seasonal weather around you.

Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester Cathedral and docks, Cardiff, Welsh Hills, to Stratford Upon Avon are all within an hour to compliment what is on the doorstep of rural market towns, the Forest of Dean and canoeing on the River Wye. Newent is the nearest market town and is just 2 miles away, which sells a wide range of local produce, local beers and wine – with no air miles for the fresh food you may wish to cook.

We hope the location creates special holiday or retreat memories from spotting the local wildlife, night time stars or simply baking a cake in the well equipped kitchen.

We will erect a temporary fence between the garden and shallow pond when bookings involve children under the age of 6, or at your request, to make the stay relaxing and safe for all.

A travel cot, high chair and stair gate is available for families with toddler.

Lovely stay

We visited over Christmas really enjoyed our stay. Attention to detail was great. Plenty to do for families of ages. Everyone in our party had a lovely time. Loved seeing all the wildlife.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Andrew (the owner) a message.

If Andrew (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
