The Pembrokeshire region

The West Wales region includes two beautiful counties: Ceredigion (Mid West Wales) and Carmarthenshire (South West Wales).

Ceredigion is a bastion of the Welsh language and culture, which offers award-winning beaches and a network of spectacular walking, cycling and mountain biking routes together with a plethora of opportunities for angling in Cardigan Bay, on rivers, in lakes and fisheries.

Carmarthenshire know as the 'Garden of Wales' and it boasts truly diverse landscapes. From spectacular mountains, rolling landscapes, secluded ancient forests to the vast expanses of golden sandy beaches it has everything.

Mathry

Ty'r Castell is located in Abercastle just a short drive away from Britain’s smallest city St Davids. The location is equidistant between St David’s and Fishguard and just two miles from the A487 trunk road and the village of Mathry. The Strumble Shuttle bus also passes us. Lying within the Pembrokeshire National Park, the holiday cottage is surrounded by stunning scenery and a plethora of wildlife habitats. The cottage is also in sight of ‘Carreg Sampson’, a Neolithic burial chamber, so called because legend has it that St. Sampson placed the headstone using just two fingers.

St Davids is a beautiful and unique city surrounded by spectacular coastal scenery renowned for its beauty and abundance of wildlife. St Davids Cathedral has been the dominant presence since the 12th century and was a popular pilgrimage destination throughout the Middle Ages and indeed remains so to this day attracting thousands of visitors every year. Adjacent to the cathedral stand the magnificent ruins of the medieval Bishops Palace. The city of St Davids has a great deal to offer every visitor.
