The East Anglia region
Norfolk is a county of contrasts, with its fantastic open unspoilt beaches as well as its beautiful countryside. It is a county that you have to drive to - not one that you journey through on your way to somewhere else. There are no motorways. Life is often at a slower, more relaxed pace and many visitors say it is a very friendly place.
There is a great deal of history in the area, it is the birthplace of Lord Nelson. Pocahontas, the Indian Princess, lived at Heacham Hall, and the historic town of King's Lynn was involved in the Civil war.
Heacham and Hunstanton are the only west facing resorts on the east coast therefore the sunsets really are quite spectacular..
Norfolk Lavender is based in Heacham and makes a very interesting place to visit.
Sandringham House & Estate is only 5 miles away and open to the public.
Pensthorpe, (BBC Springwatch) is nearby at Fakenham.
Castle Rising, 10 miles, where Edward II's Queen Isabella was imprisoned is open to the public and there are tournament weekends throughout the year.
Kings Lynn an historic market town located 13 miles away.
Norwich, a fine city, full of interesting cobbled streets, a castle and wonderful shopping.
