The Yorkshire region

Goathland is a beautiful village set in the North Yorkshire Moors, just 8 miles from the famous seaside town of Whitby. It is known for it's tv appearances as the village of Aidensfield in the popular Heatbeat series. The Train station, which still operates a steam and diesel service from Pickering to Whitby, also played it's part in the Harry Potter films. With Coast and Country on your doorstop Hawthorn Cottage is a unique self catering holiday cottage, ideal for families & friends to spend quality time together. The Yorkshire Coast has lots of beaches and quaint coves, some of which are renowned for fossils and ammonites, others endless rock pools to keep the little ones busy crabbing. From the doorstep we have an abundance of walks, moorland and wildlife. The Birch Hall Inn, is an absolute must, especially if you enjoy a pint. Set in the hamlet of Beck hole it serves light snacks and has the cutest sweet shop if you've built up an appetite wandering down there. There are many places of interest within the North York Moors and the coast, including Dalby forest, Flamingoland, Abbeys, Castles, Sealife centre, Museums, Eden camp, coast to coast walk and Robin Hood's Bay all within 35 mins drive of here.
