Nestled in the enchanting hill top village of Casciana is Il Rosmarino. This rustic Italian home opens out onto a lovely terrace which has stunning views of the surrounding countryside. This is an ideal setting to enjoy a peaceful vacation in a beautiful location.
Il Rosmarino sleeps six and has three double bedrooms together with three bathrooms. Two bedrooms are located upstairs and the other is downstairs but away from the main living room area.
The lounge is spacious, comfortable and cosy and doubles as a dining room should it be too chilly or damp to eat outside on the terrace. The kitchen is well equipped with all the modern amenities and also has a typical Italian style log burner which is of course warm and welcoming in the cooler months of the year.
The ample terrace opens up from the lounge and has stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Ideal for all day dining and sipping the local Italian wines in the evening as you ponder life's wonders!
Il Rosmarino is in an ideal setting for those wanting a peaceful holiday with breathtaking views and where you can enjoy seeing many of the ancient villages in the area. It is great for long walks and discovering the many gems in the area as well as local traditional Tuscan restaurants.
Further details
There are adequate facilities in the house for six people. Although we have had elderly friends to stay, including a blind friend and a friend with walking difficulties, it is not suitable for wheel chair users as it is hilly in the surrounding area, and there are five or six shallow steps down the little path towards the front door. The house is a tobacco free residence. One of the bedrooms is a downstairs room with shower room adjoining, which is good for elderly or less active people.
Further details indoors
The beds are arranged as three doubles, although they are actually six single beds, which gives total versatility. The lounge area is comfortable, and many family books and maps are available. There are local guide books for those wishing to travel around the area. Although there is no air conditioning, the floors are local stone tiles, thus making the interior cool, and each bedroom has a fan. We choose to have no access to TV whilst there, but we do have a CD player for music, and there is a small selection of games available. A cot can be borrowed from a neighbour should a family wish to take a cot-sized baby. Nearby Equi Terme has beach type facilities in a thermal setting and the Belvedere Hotel at Minucciana has a pool open to non residents for just 1 Euro. This hotel is 15 minutes drive and offers a good menu in friendly surroundings.
Further details outdoors
Our terrace is a most attractive area with private sunbathing for those who are sun worshipers. The views from the terrace are breathtaking, and it makes a fabulous place for breakfast, lunch and dinner! We have an outside light, so sitting on the terrace can be extended into the wee small hours if you so wish.
Bookings in June can enjoy the dancing fireflies below the terrace after dark.
Local villagers are friendly and supplies of groceries and fresh fish are available weekly from travelling shops. There are of course local supermarkets not too far away.
Parking is available in the tiny car park a short walk away. It is possible to pick up people at the end of the little walkway, or drop off luggage or groceries. You can unload luggage or groceries on to a little stone seat near the house and no-one would dream of touching them until you had parked the car and returned to carry them to the front door!
