The East Sussex region
The South East England region
The attractions, cafe's and pubs in Hastings will entertain all ages. This beautiful historic town dates back to at least the 8th century, but flint arrowheads & Bronze Age artifacts have also been found from prehistoric settlements!
Hastings is one of Britain's oldest fishing ports. Boats have worked from the beach in front of the ancient town for over a thousand years. You can buy freshly caught fish direct from the fishermen's shop.
The Old Town is where all the fun happens, located around the fishing port with lots of amusements, tourist attractions, history to explore and the quirky boutique and antique shops in George Street. Otherwise head over to the large Priory Meadow Shopping Centre.
Very unique to the area, you can go search the local shoreline cliffs for dinosaur bones and fossils, especially good at Covehurst Bay. Also dotted all around this area of England are amazing castles and all the history from the 1066 Battle of Hastings (Norman conquest of England).
Come and explore this fantastic get-a-away!
East Hill, Sussex
The area is officially the sunniest part of the UK, and one that is historically very British.
You can walk between us (Covehurst Bay) and Hastings either along the cliff top or via the beach. It will take about 45 minutes!
Navigate the amazing footpaths and trails dotted around the East Sussex countryside. There's nothing better than going on long walks enjoying spectacular views of the coastline, green countryside, wooded glens, castles, caves and wild life. All this mixed with the fresh air from the sea, will provide many great days out.
We can also offer guided walks around the area, showing you the best trails and secret pathways not marked on the maps. Please just ask!
We are located in Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve. It covers 660 acres (267 hectares) to the east of Hastings. Sandstone cliffs, glens covered with gorse and trees, footpaths, nature trails, picnic areas and ample car parking are some of the features at the country park.
The nature reserve is set in a High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, most of the park has been designated a Special Area of Conservation and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The park supported considerable human activity in prehistoric times. Archaeological finds and landmarks date from Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Romano-British, Saxon, Medieval, post-Medieval, Victorian to World War II periods. A large majority of the park has been identified as an Area of Archaeological Interest. Rare birds breed on the cliffs.

"Built & equipped with everything you could want or need, clean and excellent value."
The attention to detail in the Covehurst Bay Holiday Cottage is nothing short of outstanding. During the time we were there we kept noticing things the owners had put in place for guests, well above & beyond anything we've experienced anywhere else. From the milk, muffins, biscuits & cider waiting for us when we arrived, to the well thought out conservatory entrance for taking off wet shoes & clothes, to the charging point for electric cars, to the inflatable toys for the kids in the fantastic pool, lovely grounds, we couldn't want for more. Add to all that the great walks & scenery on the doorstep & we couldn't fail to have a brilliant weekend. If you are still reading looking for a 'but', there isn't one!

"Superb Cottage, lovely swimming pool, great location!"
We stayed here for an extended weekend and I could not be more happy with the experience.
The place was immaculate and the little touches (milk in fridge, fruit in bowl) made all the difference!
It would have been a great place just to sit and enjoy the surrounding and immaculate gardens and pool, but we also went on a few walks (of which there are many).
Hastings is a short walk or bus ride away and the cottage is ideal for those looking to get away from it all.
I will most definitely be returning, the only slight issue I have is with the name of the place... but I have overcome this... Badgers live in Setts but holiday in Dens!

"Perfect little secluded getaway"
The cottage is beautifully decorated, very cozy and extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well designed and perfect for what we needed - and the gym and pool were a great bonus. Chris and Eric were extremely welcoming and we would recommend to anyone!

"Amazing Yet again"
This is the second time we have stayed here this year and yet again it was amazing. House was lovely when we arrived and they had put christmas decorations up as well. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk all provided for a nice cupper on arrival. Secure garden for our 4 dogs to go out in. Highchair and Travel cot provided for our little one. Chris and Erik where very welcoming yet again and even turned to pool up to 32c for our little boy so it wasn't to cold.
Hastings is a lovely place but I wouldn't stay any where else this place is just perfect.

"a superb and tranquil stay in a beautiful area"
This is a exceptionally well appointed and well thought out accommodation .On arrival we were greeted with a hamper of festive goodies a decorated tree and all the essentials for our first night. The swimming pool is the icing on the cake . The best nights sleep I have had in weeks. We could not fault our stay and will definitely return.

"Perfect place for a weekend break."
We stayed at the badgers den for 2 nights. On arrival we had fresh milk, cider, blueberry muffins, crisps and biscuits. The accomodation was extremely clean, amazing decor with a really nice feel. It is located in the owners (extremely nice people) gardens, which are beautiful and well maintained. On top of this the pool and gym, truly luxurious complete with music system. Overall so pleased we chose Badgers Den.
