Views over Dent and Dentdale

The Cumbria/Lake District

The Yorkshire Dales are limestones mountains in the Pennine chain.

Views are spectacular; Dentdale is particularly stunning.

Adam Sedgwick, the father of geology, was born in Dent. The rock formations are very interesting.

Dent

During the summer there are as many as four steam trains a week, often with famous express locomotives such as Tornado and Sir Nigel Gresley.

Dent Station at 1150ft is England’s highest mainline station and the station furthest (5 miles) from the village it is named after. In 1947 a train was buried in snow close to Dent Station for several weeks.

Ideal area for walking and cycling. Various activities are laid on by the local neighbourhoods.

"Adorable little cottage"

The cottage is right in the centre of this little village and we thought it charming. Its not very spacious upstairs and the kitchen is a corner of the living room but its perfectly comfortable for two active adults. Its not highly specified when it comes to furnishings but the price reflects what it is and as such it is very good value. The tv only had BBC 1 and 2 as the other freeeview channels were glitching. We would have liked a small woodburner in the living room and a power shower instead of the electric instant shower in the bathroom, but apart from that we can genuinely recommend this cottage.
