The Dubrovnik Riviera/Islands region

Dubrovnik - the city of a unique political and cultural history (the Dubrovnik Republic, the Statute from 1272), of world-famous cultural heritage and beauty (inscribed on the List of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO) - is one of the most attractive and famous cities of the Mediterranean. Apart from its outstanding natural beauties and well-preserved cultural and historical heritage, Dubrovnik also offers high-quality visitor opportunities. It is also the city of hotels, of high ecological standards and tourist programs, and is equally attractive in all seasons. Its geographical isolation is compensated by high traffic and communication standards - especially through air traffic and fast hydrofoil boats.
The Elaphite or as their name suggests Deer Islands consist of large number of reefs and rocks and eight islands and five islets, namely: Daksa, Kolocep (Kalamota), St. Andrija, Lopud, Ruda, Šipan, Mišnjak, Jakljan, Kosmec, Golec, Crkvine, Tajan and Olipa. They are located just west of Dubrovnik and give a special touch to that part of panorama, especially at sunset, when they seem the most beautiful. The view best enjoyed from Dubrovnik hills Srd and Petka, and some parts of the Lapad pennisula.
Only three islands in the whole Elphite archipelago are inhabited; Kolocep (Kalamota), Lopud and Šipan. The others are just a playplace oasis for the gull rarely disturbed by the lonesome visitor in search of tranquill isolation.
The Cavtat / Cavtat Old Town area
Cavtat is the most southern town in Croatia, and the most practical way to reach the town is by air. Cilipi (Dubrovnik) airport is just three miles away and well connected. The City of Cavtat has a population of some 1,500 inhabitants, and is itself part of the Dubrovnik Riviera (twenty kilometers south of Dubrovnik, and 3 km of the main coastal highway).
The underwater world of Cavtat is very attractive for diving activities. In imminent proximity, next to the small islands of Cavtat Mrkan, Bobara and Supetar you can find some antique places of discovery, the biggest and most attractive in the Adriatic Sea, ranking among the biggest ones in the Mediterranean.
The places of discovery with over 1800 amphorae and dolii originating from the 1st century before and from the 1st and 2nd century after Common Era are very precious. Next to these places of discovery, the underwater world of Cavtat also bears many beautiful underwater walls that reach a depth of 100 metres, underwater caves and sunk ships from the antiquity up to the latest past.
