The house is fitted with Solar Panels, giving constant hot water all day long. All the windows and doors are fitted with electric shutters. All Bedrooms have large private balcony’s where you can sit / relax and read a book over a nice glass of wine. We also have a bbq in the back garden with patio furniture if you tire of the wonderful restaurants and fancy a night in!
There is free access to Wifi in the complex. The pub / restaurant also does excellent bar food at a very reasonable price all day. With live music and entertainment!

The house is ideally located in the complex. It is south facing to the rear of the house therefore giving sunshine all day long to the BBQ area and back garden. Perfect for sunbathing. Sunloungers and umberellas provide a private area for you and your family to relax.

Cabanas de Tavira
Cabanas it’s a former fishing village, about 7Km from the city to the East side. It holds a little more than 1000 permanent residents, and it’s beautiful and clean beaches turn it into a popular tourist destination in the summer. This parish was established as such in 1997.
The village structure is composed by a long line of low-rise houses, shops, bars and restaurants facing the Ria Formosa Nature Park.
The Cabanas de Tavira / O Pomar area
The history of Cabanas goes back to the year of 1734, at the same time the tuna fish fishing activity started, originating a need for the creation of huts (yes cabanas is the Portuguese word for huts) to store all the fishing tools and the growth of the community. For more than 20 years these were just seasonal residence, and only around 1757-58 some fisherman decided to build their houses permanently.
This parish still lives mainly from fishing, contributing to the enrichment of the local gastronomy with products like tuna fish, razor clams, etc. Although the strong connection and dependence from fishing, Cabanas also depends very much from tourism, being the most visited parish along the year. The first accommodation facilities – Pedras da Rainha – built around 1973, generated a high number of work opportunities for residents. From there the dedication to tourism has been clear, revealing a promising future.
Nowadays Cabanas offers to everyone a rich cultural heritage, from its fauna and flora, to the diversity of accommodation and gastronomy.

Directions from Faro airport to Cabanas:-
1. Exit the car park and travel on the duel carriage way, (do not turn off the carriageway) you will past the signs for Faro etc.
2. Follow the road heading for the A22 Motorway, do not turn off.
3. The road will then circle around to the left and join a minor road " N2".
4. Travel along the N2 (about 7Km), this is a narrow road with a single lane each side. You will pass through a small town called “ Chelote”.
5. When you pass through a junction with a signpost to S.B. Alpontel, get into the right lane and in a few 100 yards you will merge onto A22 motorway via the ramp to Espanha/Olhão. Travel along the motorway for about 12 minutes.
6. Take exit 16 toward Tavira. The first roundabout is only 300m from exit 16, Follow the sign post for Tavira "N270 heading to Tavira - 3.7 km". Pass through the second roundabout.
7. At the next roundabout (Vela de Ventro roundabout) it has a sculpture and has white stone work covering the roundabout" take the exit for V.R.S. Antonio “Not Tavira”
8. Travel along the N125 road for about 8 minutes, travelling towards V.R.S. Antonio.
9. Watch out for the sign for Cabanas at a roundabout, and then turn right travelling towards Cabanas Village.
10. Drive across the railway tracks and take the next turn right. The sign for O Pomar and the Old Barrel Pub is on the right. Drive into the complex for about 500 meters and stop at No 25, the house is on the left hand side.

Great property - really spacious bedrooms which are all en-suite, good sized lounge and kitchen. Patio and small garden are good, BBQ facilities available. Great service from the on site team, helpful on arrival with info about local shops and restaurants and throughout the stay. The development is only half finished, the town houses opposite us were half built, but there is no building work at the moment, so no noise. There is only one pool area, with the children's pool. Whilst we were there it was fine, no trouble with sunbeds, but I expect it gets very busy in the height of summer. There is a children's park which our boys loved, has a pirate ship, slides and swings. Would be great if there was a little shop on site, however the local shop is only 5 minutes away. O Pomar is about 10 mins walk from the centre, footpaths most of the way but not all, so we put our 3 yr olds in the pushchairs. Good choice of restaurants and a couple of bars. Beach was fabulous, it is such a huge stretch of sand that it never seems busy. Best bits - good clean complex, helpful on site staff. |

Got to the complex in the evening and were met, checked in and settled very quickly. Apartment very nice with plenty of space. Balcony on first and second floor to sit out on and air conditioning to keep the inside cool. Complex had a friendly bar serving food, cash point and great pool to relax beside. Small village nearby (approx 10 min walk) with beach front shops and restaurants. Short water taxi ride (€0.75 per person per trip) takes you to a fantastic beach. Lots of small towns, villages, golf, shopping and water park within 40 minutes car journey. |

My husband and I stayed with my daughter and her boyfriend (20 and 21) we all had a wonderful time. The house was spotlessly clean when we arrived, we were shown around it and everything explained to us. The house was lovely and cool throughout our stay due to the electric shutters on the windows, we only used the air conditioning a couple of times even though the temperature outside was about 30deg.The walk to Cabanas takes around 15 minutes, were there are plenty of good restaurants cheaper than the UK.The swimming pool at O Pomar was spotless and as there were no children when we stayed we practically had the pool to ourselves.I would certainly recommend this property,also the owner was very helpful when I booked and even telephoned me to answer my queries. |
