The Tuscany region
The province of Lucca is the northern part of Tuscany, this is fairly mountainous country and for that reason far less spoilt. There are dozens of fascinating mediavel villages perched up high in the hills above the valley.
During the months of June, July and August the wheather is nromaly consistenly hot with temperatuers frequently going around 30C. April and May the most beautiful months with mild to warm temperatures an and abundance of spring flowers, acacia blossom and the scent of flowers. September can suit those who prefer slightly coller summer temeratures before autumn sets in.
Borgo a Mozzano
Close to Oneta is the medieval town Borgo a Mozzano only 20 minutes north of the provincal capital Lucca. It is small enough not to have a parking problem and large enough to have all the facilities of a normall town including three banks, a supermarket with delicatessen, four restaurants, a post office, railway station, police station, tourist office, public tenniscourt and swimmingpool, all the normal shops and a lot of public activities such as, in the spring an azalea festival, in the summer open air opera an a July beer festival, while in autumn there is a Halloween festival ( one of the largets in Europe ).
