"What a fabulous last minute half-term holiday!"
We have just returned from staying at the Mountain View Resort - what a lovely time we have had. We are a family of four (the youngest being 15 years old) and had to alter our initial plans to go skiing at the end of December. We were lucky enough to find this letting at an extremely reasonable price given that we were looking to travel during the school half term week.
Gareth was extremely prompt in his reply to the letting enquiry and to the useful advise that he gave as to local transfers, snowboard and lift pass etc. The booking was simple and straight foreward.
We ended up using the Resorthoppa service from Plovdiv to Bansko return. Given the baggage and ski/board equipment that we were taking, we ordered a minibus at a cost of £168 which included the return journey. The drivers (inbound/outbound) were both on time, friendly and skillfully drove the 3:30 - 4 hour journey on very snow compacted roads!. On arrival we were delivered to Mount View Apt by mistake (lots of buildings with similar name/use of Mountain View etc), but having located the correct building (Mountain View Resort), the driver relayed this back to the office for ease with collection on the homebound journey.
The apartment was well furnished and more than ample for our needs for the week. The heating and water system was more than adequate, making it a pleasant warm return following a day's skiing and having a lovely hot shower. The underfloor heating in the bathroom and dry/cloak room was lovely. The large ski locker is located in the basement which is easy to access.
The on site receptionist and lifeguard/handyman were both really helpful.
Due to the existing snowfall (some 2+ metres), it was possible to cross the road in front of the ski rent shop and walk a very short distance before putting the skis/boards on and skiing down to the gondola. The same shortcut could be made on the final run down run 1, rather than having to walk back up the hill.
We went out with the intention of needing to hire one set of snowboard/boots which was easily done from the onsite rental (90 BGL for 6 days hire including a 10% discount), however damage to a set of our ski boots (noticed whilst queuing for the gondola) resulted in adult boot hire from the main rental office (next to the gondola) - 68 BGL for 6 days - really good value for money all round.
Amigoes Restaurant (bottom of hill; right at traffic lights) served a wide variety of meals in a very friendly atmosphere. The large supermarket (next to the Queens Pub) holds a large selection of everyday produces.
