The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
Bansko is in a very charming ski resort, it is just 160 kilometres away from Sofia and 6 kilometres from Razlog. You can take the motorway from Sofia to within 40km of Bansko, it takes approx 2 hours from Sofia. The Aegean coast in Greece is 80km away.
The Bansko ski resort was recently awarded “Best-Developed Ski Resort in Eastern Europe” by the 2007 Great Skiing & Snowboarding Guide and the UNESCO-protected Pirin Mountains.
Having the best and most modern ski centre of all Bulgarian ski resorts. In the last fiew years,Yulen (the company which has the license to run the skiing area of the resort) has made a multi-million euros investment. Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (15 Dec - 15 May) of all Bulgarian ski resorts.

Bansko is situated nearby the river Glazane right bellow the highest and most beautiful part of the mountain. Bansko has become a favourite ski & snowboard destination, the ski facilities are first class. The skiing area is on 2000-2600m.
Bansko is a historic town with a traditional yet vibrant feel. It is known to be an artist village with a rich traditional architecture. Timber framed stone houses overlook cobbled streets where traditional dress is still worn. Today the old town provides a great backdrop to the modern accommodation and facilities required by both winter and summer tourists.
